At 10.5 months, I think it's about time that she hold her own bottle. Even at her adjusted age of 7.5 months, I think it is time. But she has no interest. Any suggestions?

Mine didn't do it until closer to 8.5-9 months. If you compare that to her adjusted age, it might be a little early for her.

My son does it while laying on his back. Start with a smaller bottle! Good luck.

My DD started at 5.5 months and was successful by 6.5 months. I gave her the bottle while reclined a little in the high chair. She eventually got it. (She had an easier time learning to hold the sippy cup with handles.)

I don't think DD would hold her's until she was over a year old! DS had it figured out around 9-10 months. Putting them on their back works best (or I prop DS up on the floor with one of our pillows from our couch and he lays on it so he's not completely flat).

DS started holding his around 8 months. Interestingly, he would hold it for us, but not for grandma at daycare. :) Even now he sometimes wants us to hold it for him, which is fine by me.

Okay, maybe I am starting too early then. Thanks for the advice!

DH got DS started when he was home on paternity leave. DS would hold DH's pinky as he fed him. Then he'd let go when he was done. (I know, sounds like a stretch for a 4 month old, but DH swears they communicated this way.)

Regardless of the 'signalling', soon after DS started holding the bottle, and eventually gained enough strength to do it on his own. Maybe help her learn by giving her more control while you feed her?

Regardless, I don't think its a huge deal at 8 months, or worth pushing her to do.

My older DD never held her bottle.
