I am referring to clothing, bags, shoes, etc. Thought it would be fun to do a thread with fun fall items. :)

New black boots. Either clunky motorcycle style (I am sure they are not in style right now, but I have always had a pair, my last ones died, and I miss them) or funky black cowboy boots. The ones I want are over $500, so not gonna happen, but that is what I am dreaming of!

2nd choice would be new jeans. Expensive ones.

new jeans and some new shoes-I'm down to 1 pair of flip flops for everyday and then all my dress shoes. My le mocs and sneakers bit the dust last winter. I want new mocs and some nike sneakers but I think they'll come from target.

1) Tights, after reading the thread last week. . . I don't own any! But I might wear dresses longer into the fall/winter with them.

2) Boots to wear with jeans. I've never owned any boots either, but if I could find something comfortable, I think I'd wear them alot.

3) A great casual outfit that camoflages my post-partum former baby bump for my college reunion in 3 weeks. Must be comfortable and appropriate for handling the girls, since I may be have both of them with me without DH.

No idea what I'm actually going to buy, so sorry, no links. But I'll be watching!

I need and want everything! I have been neglecting my wardrobe for 2 yrs now. It's hard to find good clothes when you're both "petite" and plus size though. Plus I'm kind of cheap! I'm craving a lot of grays & plum colors now for some reason. Also burgundy, burnt orange-- autumn colors! I need tunics, sweaters, dressy-casual trousers, flats, boots, and trench coats.
I like this coat but it's a little blah: http://www.macys.com/catalog/product/index.ognc?ID=474044&cm_mmc=Google_Feed-_-4-_-40-_-%7Bkeyword%7D&kw=%7Bkeyword%7D
I love this one: http://www.overstock.com/Clothing-Shoes/Izod-Womens-Plus-Size-New-Zealand-Lambskin-Leather-Belted-Trench-Coat/4123203/product.html?cid=123620&fp=F&ci_src=14110944&ci_sku=12129909
This is cool but I'm sure I'd look ridiculous in it: http://cgi.ebay.com/PLUS-SIZE-SAILOR-BLACK-BUCKLE-CAPE-TRENCH-COAT-1X-44-/220484103236?pt=US_CSA_WC_Outerwear&hash=item3355e06c44
I've always wanted to wear jeans tucked into a cool pair of boots, but I don't think it would be a good look for me.

I have a long list - I'm done having babies and it's time to rebuild my wardrobe.
I just got these

http://tinyurl.com/287da4z

I want some pointy boots to go with them.

I also want some staightleg jeans.

I need some good black trousers.

I want this

http://tinyurl.com/27ytmo9

I literally have a list of 20+ things. I won't get them all this season - I want to go back to the days when I bought high quality basic pieces and accessorized them seasonly. So before I get the Ann Taylor sweater, I'll most likely invest in a basic black cardigan and see if I can catch the more fun sweaters on sale.

I need more stuff that fits--new jeans and cords, a new purse, and maybe a few cute cardigans or sweaters. Also, a cute scarf for my new winter coat. I'd like to get my ears "repierced" (closed holes) and maybe start wearing earings again.

That dress is gorgeous!

Well, this fall I probably won't be buying anything because I will be in the process of shrinking back to my size post baby. And the baby will be my favorite thing to wear this fall for sure:love-retry:
But I will be working out so I can get back to my much loved Gryphon trench coats-

http://www.bergdorfgoodman.com/store/catalog/prod.jhtml?itemId=prod57210020&ecid=BGCIFroogleFeed&003=5842946&010=T2W29&ci_src=14110944&ci_sku=T2W29

and this one:

Can you tell I like trench coats.

I am also looking forward to wearing the J Crew vintage roadster boots i bought on ebay..mine are black

http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_T8WaTo-X2bI/Svne47rFU4I/AAAAAAAAFE4/j8s4IlgIhWM/s1600-h/IMG_2517.jpg

Its going to be hard to stay away from jeans, and to not buy until I am back to my size, because jeans are my favorite thing and an everyday uniform. If I do start to go crazy though I will go to my favorite J Brand source ($50 a pair instead of $200:thumbsup:) and get something to tie me over (but really i doubt it. ive learned to not buy jeans too soon after baby).
And then when I start to feel good about my shape I will treat myself to a couple Alexander Wang tees and tanks.
Thats about as far ahead as I am capable of looking right now, being 8 months pregnant and all.

What are clog ankle boots? Sorry to be ignorant!! :bag

There are some nice things here! I think the only thing on my wish list is a new fitted blazer, but I want something other than black...something with a little oomph.

I already bought this pair of Uggs, I'm looking forward to cooler weather to wear them.

I bought some stuff last winter that I didn't get a chance to wear often because I didn't go out with the girls as much as I expected (several snowstorms, and a serious virus kept us indoors). I hope that changes this year!

Upgraded a few things in the past few weeks... My 6 year old Danskos have finally bit the dust I think, and it was just time to refresh things.

I got some new jeans at Old Navy last week, bootcut Diva and skinny Diva. Both fit well and the price was right. I'd love some nicer ones (aside from the "hand-me-ups" that my younger sister has so generously passed along, Citizens of Humanity and 7 for All Mankind), but I'll take Old Navy to fill in the gaps. Also picked up some short and long sleeved solid color tops for layering and a new lace trimmed cami. Also found a few open front cardigans at Marshalls a few weeks ago - one black, one light gray, and one charcoal gray.

My LL Bean and North Face fleeces are both falling apart after years of heavy use, so I am eagerly awaiting the arrival of:

and

Was ordering some boots for DH for work last night and ended up ordering 2 pairs for myself too :innocent: (hey, my birthday is next week ;)):

http://www.shoebuy.com/bcbgeneration-morch/337175/719177

Those are gorgeous! I wouldn't buy them for myself, or the beautiful riding boots above only because our seasons for wearing that type of boot are too darned short. Since I already have a few pairs of high boots, I only allow myself to buy new ones if they're lined and rubber-soled. Yeah, that's how I justify it. :bag My La Canadiennes (for dress) are trashed, but I'm not liking the styles of the heels this year, so I don't know what I'll get yet. I did replace my walking/everyday boots with some Keens that were recommended here late last season :)

Here are a few things that have caught my eye so far:

I'm really loving this, but don't ask me where I'd be wearing that - especiallyl with our weather! anthropologie dress (http://www.anthropologie.com/anthro/catalog/productdetail.jsp?subCategoryId=CLOTHES-DRESSES-PRINTED&id=18766717&catId=CLOTHES-DRESSES&pushId=CLOTHES-DRESSES&popId=CLOTHES&sortProperties=&navCount=25&navAction=top&fromCategoryPage=true&selectedProductSize=&selectedProductSize1=&color=014&colorName=NEUTRAL&isSubcategory=true&isProduct=true&isBigImage=&templateType=)
I need some new sweaters, so many of mine are horribly pilled:
anthropologie cardigan (http://www.anthropologie.com/anthro/catalog/productdetail.jsp?subCategoryId=CLOTHES-SWEATERS&id=19018316&catId=CLOTHES-SWEATERS&pushId=CLOTHES-SWEATERS&popId=CLOTHES&sortProperties=&navCount=50&navAction=top&fromCategoryPage=true&selectedProductSize=&selectedProductSize1=&color=015&colorName=NEUTRAL MOTIF&isSubcategory=true&isProduct=true&isBigImage=&templateType=) I'm loving this one and other similar styles they have, but it's out of my budget right now.

I'll probably stick to my trusty Jcrew and get these:
http://www.jcrew.com/womens_category/sweaters/jackets/PRDOVR~29619/29619.jsp
http://www.jcrew.com/womens_category/sweaters/shawlcollarsandhenleys/PRDOVR~18190/18190.jsp
just as good basics. I also really like the lumiere cardigan someone linked to above.

I LOVE blazers, and need another like a hole in the head but I'm liking this:
Ruby blazer (http://www.jcrew.com/womens_category/blazers/noveltyblazers/PRDOVR~29018/29018.jsp)
also liking this: Boden velvet blazer (http://www.bodenusa.com/en-US/Womens-Coats-Jackets/Jackets/WE259/Womens-Velvet-Blazer.html?NavGroupID=2) but I've got a few that are similar, so I should probably stay away.
If I lose some weight I'd like something like this: urban biker (http://www.bodenusa.com/en-US/Womens-Coats-Jackets/Jackets/WE264/Womens-Urban-Biker.html?NavGroupID=2)

I was lusting after this last year: washed velvet coat (http://www.bodenusa.com/en-US/Womens-Coats-Jackets/Coats/WE269/Womens-Washed-Velvet-Coat.html?NavGroupID=2) but I'm not sure I can justify it with our short fall/springs.

Might need to get a long camel wool coat this year :)

I'll come back later and post my accessory picks. I'll probably spend more on those and a few key pieces rather than go crazy with larger items since money's a bit tight this year. But now that I'm able to wear jewelry around DS and am not always carrying him (somehow I couldn't manage that well in heels), it's time to update those a bit.

Ok, so where do you guys all like to shop then? I used to be a big Ann Taylor girl, but I've been totally turned off of their things lately. I've been buying things from Boden and Garnet Hill mostly. But, I need to branch out. Not sure if I'm stylish enough for Anthropologie.

I buy a lot of my staples, as well as my pants at BR and JCrew. I wear Lucky jeans. Occasionally I'll shop at Talbot's too (mostly for pants), and I'm glad to see they've gotten a little more modern lately. I used to like AT for "work" stuff, dresses, and skirts, but haven't really liked them lately either. But my personal style isn't really all the buttoned-up or conservative, so I mix those staples with things from Boden, The Rack, or local stores up here (yay Simon's and Les Ailes!!!). I'd love to buy my entire wardrobe at Anthrolopologie but can't afford it. I get the occasional thing at H&M or Zara. I used to be into BCBG - especially their bargain basement! - but I need to lose more weight before I fit into or look good in their stuff again :(

I'm also very into shoes and will usually spice up a plain outfit with exciting shoes or a blazer that's a little different. I'm a big fan of velvet as you can see, as well as bright colors, metallics and the occasional sequin ;). And lots of jewelry.

My mom's style is similar, but she's more into Garnet Hill, JJill and Coldwater Creek. She's very tall and thin so things that look like mumus on me or make me look like I'm preggo look great on her.

I really like that bamboo wrap shirt. I don't know if it would look good on me, though. I think you'd have to be tall and slim. You have a really interesting style. Mine is much more boring.

I haven't actually bought nice clothes for myself in a long time. I used to like JCrew, AT Loft, and BR. Now, I mostly get stuff at Target, ON, and LE. Jcrew, AT, and BR seem to have changed a lot in the last 10 years. I, too, am looking for places with nicer dress pants, sweaters, blazers, etc. Sometimes I find stuff at TJMax or Marshalls.

again, where am I going to wear this, but it's gorgeous.

That's my question..where are you guys going that you'd be wearing all this stuff? Maybe I'm so knee-deep in childcare that none of what's been posted would be at all workable in my life.

M- preschool, errands, laundry, bible study
T - stay at home after dropoff, play with boys on the floor/in yard
W - preschool, library, children's museum, gym
Th - preschool, kindermusik, park
F - playgroup, gym, folding laundry
S - walking trails, park, children's museum, family fun outing
S - church

I guess I could dress up some for church and bible study...maybe I should be looking at the links more seriously. Most of what I do can be done in yoga pants. yikes.

Thanks, Sally. I'm tall-ish, but I'm not slim and I wear a lot of wrap-style tops and I think they're very flattering. The secret is making sure it falls correctly over your bra area as well as through the waist, which can be difficult depending on what the difference is between the two.

I think the AnnTaylor shirt you linked to above is a great, classic look, but I'm not sure I'd wear a shiny satin top like that with jeans. Matte, yes, but I'm not so sure of shiny. It kinda says to me dress pants or skirt, but I don't do a lot of shiny fabrics so I'm just not sure. My absolute favorite type of shirt is this one from BR which is similar, but matte: fitted shirt (http://bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=5039&vid=1&pid=717829&scid=717829002). Mine aren't non-iron as I think that's new, but I've got tons of these in many different colors in 3 different sizes (regular, heavier, and breastfeeding :rotflmao:) I wear them with jeans, cords, khakis, wool pants, skirts - you name it.

I mostly wear jeans/cords, t-shirts, and clogs in the winter, but I'd like to step it up a bit to include sweaters, nicer shoes, a nicer jacket, etc. Some of it is wishful thinking or for giong out on "date night" or to the theater.

For me, mostly this is for work. Or if I go out to lunch/dinner or something. Even if it's just me and DS I get "dressed", mind you, I still have to be able to move in it :) Otherwise, since I WAH most of the time, I'm wearing HA sweats and Ts. Which is NOT a look meant for the public to see.

I think I have a tough time pulling off wrap shirts b/c I'm so short, or maybe I'm not wearing them right. I don't really wear any shiny shirts, or shirts with collars for that matter. I could see the AT one with black wool pants. I just got these super dark rinse, trouser cut jeans, so they look like dress pants, but are made out of a finer denim. I always thought trouser cut jeans were an oxymoron, but they actually look good. Trying to think of things to wear with them. I like the matte shirt you linked to.

Yes, I do. But I don't do the dropoff, I do the pickup. Most of the time I wear Lucky jeans which are stretchy and it helps with all the bending and squatting. The BR shirt I linked to has stretch in it too - I love stretch! I do the dark wash like Sally's talking about so they look nicer than they are ;) I only wear dress pants if I'm going to a conference or church or a performance or something. I rarely wear skirts because it's too darned cold up here. All the nicer stuff is on the top ;) but if I was still wearing DS I wouldn't be wearing blazers or anythink that might rip. Mostly he's in the stroller nowadays (DH is still strong enough to wear him) or he's walking. But I've only got one, you've got three. That's bound to cause some differences.

I love riding boots. I have a pair that I wear constantly in the fall/winter and spring. They look awesome with jeans, leggings and skirts!

Here they are:

http://www2.ljworld.com/photos/2005/nov/07/68037/

these are drool worthy and will last an eternity I am sure.

I bought a pair of Stuart W over the knee black boots at Nordstrom not too long ago during a pre season sale...they were something like 300 (down from almost 600). They were truly an awesome deal. And they are so much nicer in person than they look online-the leather was soooo soft it didnt even feel like leather..

http://www.saksfifthavenue.com/main/ProductDetail.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524446194 408&afsrc=1&site_refer=GGLBASE001&ci_src=14110944&ci_sku=ParentItem0442204782991

BUT I took them back. I think they were an impulse buy, and Im not a fan of those. I think I knew Id be taking them back right as I was buying them-you know that feeling? I think its because it was just impossible for me to look at myself in the mirror and understand if I really like them-with my big round belly I just looked funny in tight black jeans with the tight black over the knee boot. So back they went and I got my ankle J Crew boots instead:jammin: - i think they will be way better for running around town with baby in tow.

PS all my Gryphon trench coats I bought from Gilt a couple of years ago..they ranged from $65 for the short trench to something like $99 and $120 for the other longer ones. Crazy prices considering they retail at $600-800!

I get dressed most every day in something decent. Some days all I do is gym, change into something cute, go get ds from preschool, then go home and likely change into yoga pants and a tank top. :) But, when I am out of the house I try. Might not succeed and I am no where near as stylish as other posters here (also have a smaller budget than some, it would seem) but I try to at least look put together most of the time. There are the jeans and a hoodie day here and there too. :)

I'm feeling now that DD is 2 yo and also done nursing, that there's a lot less chance of getting shirts stained, torn, etc. So, I want to go a little nicer than my $5 clearance t-shirts. Today, I wore dark jeans, white tissue t-shirt, and a pink cotton cardigan from Target. That's a step up for me.

This sounds a lot like me. The only time you'll find me in yoga pants or gym clothes is if I've actually been to the gym. Otherwise I try to look somewhat put together- even if that means a quick shower with my hair pulled back.

I also don't have the budget some posters have- although I wish I did- maybe when I go back to work some day! I also would feel a little silly around here wearing drool worthy riding boots. (I :heartbeat: those riding boots arivecchi!)

I have been trying to update my wardrobe now that my body is mine again. I've gotten a couple pair of dark jeans and some new shoes. I just picked up a few long-sleeve cotton shirts from the JCrew outlet the other day. It's a blessing and a curse that I live so close to the outlets!

I still need to get a pair of brown flats. I've picked them out but haven't gotten them yet. I'd love some new boots and a black winter coat. I have a cream color coat from BR that I love. I think I might actually be able to wear it this year! I want a new black coat, though.

Besides that, I just need to update some of my sweaters and get a few more tops. I also need some new pants, not jeans. I'm discovering that even though the scale says I'm at my pre-kids weight, my clothes just don't fit the same. I think some of my pants are a little outdated anyway and I want some different styles.

I got this shirt from JCrew. I wanted the lavender, but they didn't have my size. I got the light pewter and ivory.

Sally,

Are you still looking for a scarf? Coldwater Creek has some in their clearance section at an additional 25 percent off plus free shipping (or 40 percent off--it takes away the free shipping when you add the code SHARE40--the 40 percent was better for me).

Here's one:

I think it's made for the outlet, but obviously sold online, too. I couldn't find the shirts on the regular site and then I noticed the link for Factory. I saw several of the items at the outlet, but the other shirt I got isn't there, so maybe the outlet is a mix of the regular store and Factory stuff.

This is the other one I got, at the outlet, but I found it on the regular site. I got the olive green color (it's a prettier color in person). I think I paid under $20 for it.

That's a cute top Julie!

I got an email today from JCrew announcing the "factory" line. I didn't read it closely so I wasn't sure if it was things that hadn't sold in the catalog/regular stores or designed for the factory. But looking back, here's what it says "It's everything you love, designed exclusively for Factory at JCrew.com". So it's special for the "factory" and you can only shop that section of the site Fri-Sun. I looked thru it a bit but none of the deals were super low so I think I'm going to take my chances with their sales. Hopefully this doesn't replace those!

Good memory! Thanks for the links. So far, I like the one linked from Nordstrom the best. I think I'm looking for something in a thicker, matte, silk, with a conservative/classic pattern. In You've Got Mail, Meg Ryan wears a lot of scarves with her plain black coat. I really liked them and the fact that they weren't more bulky, like a wool scarf can be. Now just see, they're probably Hermes.

ETA: Something like this, only not so orangy (more of a brown background) would be perfect.

Ooh, that's pretty. I have some kind of similar scarves, in blues, purchased in China when we went to adopt ds. They were intended as gifts, but with no particular recipients in mind they ended up stashed in my drawer and I just finally opened them up and started wearing them. They are really soft and much warmer than I anticipated.

Cute stuff! I am a big sweater and jacket fan too!

My Eddie Bauer order arrived. I'm keeping the black wool trousers--nice soft, light-weight wool in a decent cut. They are classics and will fill a gap in my wardrobe.

And definitely keeping the Born Tour Booties. Love them! They look GOOD and are much easier to put on than actual boots. Plus they seem comfortable!

The curvy fit straight leg jeans are going back though. They fit okay, just not very flattering.

Oh boy... I think that could be dangerous for my wallet :D I bet you will be a bad influence on me. I find that I end up wearing my nicer more classic stuff so much more because I LOVE it. It looks great, is better made and usually fits much better. The cheaper clothes are usually impulse buys and I grow tired of them after a while.

Fashion pros recommend having nicer but fewer things over lots of inexpensive things that just don't have staying power.

We will have to find some time for a shopping excursion! :)

Everything! I haven't bought much new stuff in almost 3 years since I was hoping to drop 10 pounds. I've been running 20 miles/week, but my size isn't budging so I think I just need to accept my current size,

For the price, I like Old Navy's dreamer jeans, so I may get another pair of those. I'm working again and going to court occasionally so I really need some new suits, but HATE shopping for them. I really want these boots, too:

I want knee high boots without a big heel. I cannot fathom paying for the awesome boots you ladies have posted, but I have my eye on some $40 Merona boots at Target that someone posted on here the other day. My size is sold out at all stores within a 50 mile radius of me except for 1 so I will be hitting up that store tomorrow!
