1: Britax
Is it "Brit-ax" or "Brit-ah" or "Brit-augh"?

2: Porsche
Is it "Por-sha" (like the girl's name) or "Porsh"?

Thanks!

I think it's supposed to be br-EYE-tax. I call it br-ee-tax for some reason.

I call it both- not sure.

I just called their customer service number...it is BRIGHT-TAX or Bry-eye-tax.

Which means I have been mispronouncing it for years.

yep, i too was surprised. Chicco is not pronounced "Chico", it's pronounced "Kee-ko". I think in Italian, ch = hard 'k' sound, not "ch" sound.

as for Britax, i've always heard "BRY-tax", (rhymes with fry-tax)

I know for sure it is POR-sha (like the girl's name). DH comes from a family of porsche repair guys.
Here's another one... apparently it's Rah-bees, not Row-bees (robeez). We discovered that when we called customer service about a pair that broke in 3 days. Fantastic CS, by the way!

I guess I've been pronoucing Britax and Robeez incorrectly all these years!

I think Porsche can be pronounced either way but the "more correct" way is Porsh-Ah...but don't quote me on that as I drive a VW ;)

Heh, this reminded me of my bad grasp of French in 6th grade.... my friends and I loved our "Chick" brand jeans.

I do consulting for Porsche and during my first presentation there I was told it's Porsch if you want one it Por-sha if you own one. Por-sha is the correct pronunciation.

Yeah, it's German (I toured the factory when I lived there) and you always pronounce the "e" as an "uh" if it comes at the end of a word after a consonant or consonant cluster. How's that for confusing?! ;)

And the "key-co" as Chicco thing totally freaked me out when I called CS about a missing part on my play yard.

I also hear a lot of people mispronounce the baby carrier mei tai as "mai tai" instead of "may tai."

I've been mispronouncing these, too.

Does anyone know how to say Naartjie? DH suggested it's nargie because that's easier than me saying, that cool online site I buy clothes from whose name I can't pronounce. LOL

Interesting! I only know one person who owns one, but she says Porsch.

And I'm pretty sure Naartjie is Nar-chee - at least that's how the sales associates said it. :)
