I want to make a mommy/nursing/teething necklace, like this (http://www.mommynecklaces.com/Locked-Donuts_c_79.html) or this (http://www.smartmomjewelry.com/) but I'm not sure where to find the beads and pendants. It needs to be safe for little mouths (obviously). I checked Michael's, and they have tons of cool pendants, but I doubt they are safe to go in DD's mouth. Any suggestions?

:BUMP:

Also, I've been reading about amber teething necklaces. Are these for the baby to wear or to chew on, or not for the baby at all? I'm rather confused.

Thanks!

Is is confusing, isn't it? IIRC amber teething necklaces are *not* to be chewed on, they are supposed to be worn against baby's skin. The ones I looked at for Dolly are too short to get into baby's mouth.

It looks like the Nursing necklaces are non-toxic acrylic and are designed to be fiddled with, but are safe if baby puts it in their mouth. Still, not really for chewing on.

I've made a lot of necklaces, and JMHO here, but if I were going to choose to buy or make one of these necklaces I'd probably buy it. Sourcing non-toxic beads and findings would be a pain in the rear, and I don't know that you'd actually save money making it yourself.

Thanks on both accounts! I thought it would be neat to make one, but you have a really good point (especially since I've been googling for a while and can't seem to find a place to buy the right beads).

I have a teething necklace that my mom got me from the soft landing. like this.

They are soft, and look like stone, but they're not. DS didn't really use it that much. I don't know where you'd find them in a store to make your own. I've never seen anything like the donut shaped thing they used.
