My McFee just auto renewed for $75/year. That seems high, although IDK. I can cancel the auto renewal within 60 days. What price have you gotten?

If you "like" them on facebook I think there's a discount code. 50% iirc.

You might see if your internet provider gives you free antivirus. I know comcast does.

Interesting. I should call my cable company and see if they offer it. Never thought to check! I did email them to cancel the charges and said I would resubscribe if I found a lower price. They immediately offered me $35, so I took that. I also took my acct. off of autorenewal, as I think you get better deals if they're trying to "sell" you.

I've never heard of Kaspersky, I'll have to ask DH (the computer expert in this household) about that.

Used to be a BOA customer, but not anymore. My cable company does offer their own brand of virus protection. I tried to download it, but was unsuccessful. Plus, I wonder if I'd trust it as much as something like McFee or Norton, or other branded products, KWIM?

My computer engineer husband has Avira personal running on my computer, and it was free so... you probably don't need a big name for it to work.

We use Microsoft Security Essentials. It's free and it's caught several things before they got to my computer (like nasty Trojan viruses, etc.) that McAfee never even flagged even though it was "up to date" with definitions. (I had both running to make sure SE was working before my McAfee sub ended.)

Wow, was that something you had to download from the mocrosoft website?

That's what I use.

Go to www.cnet.com and look at their free downloads of antivirus rated by both editors and users. All downloads are virus free. Avira Antivir is highly rated.

We use Avira as well. There were some other threads on free antivirus programs. Avast, AVG and Avira were some of the names mentioned.

Thank you guys. I think I'm going to cancel my McFee and look into one of the free programs.
