Getting pink out of a shirt?

I just bought DS a red, white & blue striped shirt and made a mistake of throwing it in the washer w/all red clothes. Now the white stripes are pink. Is there any way to salvage it?

I just had this issue with DD's clothes bought a consignment sale. I found something online that worked (but use with caution). I boiled a pot of water, and added 1/4 cup of bleach. Then, I dropped the top and "cooked" it with a ladle for 2 min., took it out and rinsed it immediately. The white was white again, and the colored part was fine. I did have an issue with the navy fading to a purple but the reds did not fade at all. Weird.
I have also heard that Shout Catcher is a great product to use for future washings with mixed clothes. Too bad it was too late for me. :(

In a small tub put the item and liquid dishwasher detergent (the stuff for the machine not hand washing), it will pull the red out, it worked for me on a gap white and red cotton sweater.
