I found a market & a grocery cart for DS on craigslist, that I am holding onto until his birthday (end of Nov). Friends/family are starting to ask me about b'day/Christmas. I know you guys are toy gurus - what is the best cash register? We typically avoid flashy electronic stuff (DS is on the spectrum).

Any other recs for pretend/imaginative play? We have Thomas out our ears, play kitchen, dollhouse.. He doesn't really have much in terms of dress up clothes yet.

We have this one:

It's been really great, but yes it does talk, play games, etc.

Haba makes a wooden one-

My kids play with the cash registers and telephones a lot. We have old yard sale ones that are Fisher Price, IIRC. I just bought new ones that are going away until birthdays. They are the circo ones and were on clearance for $4.xx!!! I like them because the buttons work but it is just like a calculator screen, no flashes or loud sounds. It is kind of girly looking though.

We have the Haba cash register and love it! It's nice bc DD will use it in so many different ways, in addition to playing with it as a cash register.

We have the Fisher Price one that is almost exactly like the one I had as a child:
