I'm looking at their puzzles. I've been eyeing them for awhile and wanting to get LO some, but she's never been too interested in them. I'm guessing she's just a little too young? She's almost 15 months. Will she be about the right age by Christmas? Of maybe she's just not a puzzle kid? I LOVED puzzles growing up! Any rec on which ones are best for her age? I'm thinking maybe the touch and feel puzzles? Or the jumbo knobs ones?

I loved the jumbo letter and number puzzles, and so did DD.

She might just be a bit too young. My DD started getting interested in her puzzles around 20-22 months. Now she plays with them every day.
I like the "chunky" puzzles rather than the jumbo knob ones.

The touch and feel ones look really cool too, but we don't have any of them so I can't offer an opinion.

I *think* so - we have both but I can't quite recall what I paid. DD loves them. I will say that the pots/pans are heavy (even to me!). The cutting food rocks!

Use the following website to check historical prices: http://camelcamelcamel.com/

Based on the 8 items that I have in my cart (I use it as my shopping list and also to track prices), the prices haven't really gone down and are Amazon's usual prices...

I've been watching some of the play food. Right now it's only about 25% off...does Amazon (or anyone) ever have it any lower?

update: just checking out the camelcamelcamel site...i saw that post after I wrote mine. That is a cool tool! I will definitely be bookmarking that one.

My DS is 13 months old and he really enjoys his jumbo knobs puzzles. We have 3 of them - animals and shapes. We also got one touch and feel and I'm not sure what that adds to it now. He hasn't seemed to notice a difference except that the knobs are absent. He likes touch and feel books but on the puzzles, this hasn't caught his eye yet.

We have the M&D train set, and IMO it's a good all-purpose starter set. I bought mine at Michaels last holiday season for about $50 at a door buster deal. HTH!

Great price on the deluxe wooden railway set! $58.63. I've been looking at this for a while. Works with Thomas track too.

I think I am actually going to sit this one out. I had so much fun last year at Christmas time when Amazon would have those crazy hourly deals...or their computer would malfunction and mark things at 90% off. I am hoping the same thing happens this year!

I think I might get some of the food for DD1, but I want to wait because I am still not 100% sure that she is getting a play kitchen for Christmas. I got the cookie set (which has been a huge hit) during the early December toy sale Target.com had. I paid $11 for it I think. I will most likely get DD1 the task calendar next year.

:yeahthat: Make sure you compare prices and not percentage off. Some of the retail prices are highly, highly inflated.

I'll be skipping all the M & D play food this time around with DS2. We had it all with DS1 and it just didn't hold up all that well (lots of chips, scratches, dents). I sold everything on CL except for the pizza and cake cutting sets. This time around I'm buying all Plan Toys food. It seems to be much higher quality and I already have a set of their cutting food from an awesome Amazon deal last Christmas.

I have been eyeing the M & D shopping cart for months on nukeprice.com and it's never been cheaper than $38, so the current price of $31 is a good deal. Deciding whether or not to pull the trigger!

There is.

On the left hand column, about halfway down the main search page, there's an option to narrow down your search by discount. You can choose, 10% or more, 25% or more, 50% or more, or 70% or more.

And the "jumbo knob puzzles" are not a good price. I've been watching them for months and they've always been in the $8 range.

There is, but it never works on Amazon. Watch the retail prices. They are very inflated. See what other sellers (on the right) are selling the items for. If the price is similar, it's probably not a great deal (even with free ship).

:yeahthat: I've tried that with the M&D items and all I was getting were the highly inflated retail prices discounted to regular retail price. I'm sure there are some good deals but they're too hard to find unless you're looking for that item specifically.

Hi! I don't recommend the shopping cart. I was also stalking it for months then pulled the trigger at $37 but I don't like it. It's too heavy and kind of dangerous.

I love how cute the shopping cart is. And I also like that it is heavy so not going to tip over. But that being said, if you have a kid that is even semi-violent, than watch out becuase it can cause some serious damage to walls or other kids if he/she hits them with it. Although they want to push it around our house, they are only allowed to have it in playroom so no damage to the house. So far, so good. No one or nothing hurt yet and we've had it for over a year.

We love the shopping cart!!! My parents got it for DD for her 2nd birthday and it is played with constantly!!!! (see pp of mine fearing that DD will become a bag lady;)) I don't how it could be dangerous. Those funny feet on it are to protect your DC if they try to climb into it. I guess it could be dangerous if you DC had it at the top if the stairs, but so could almost anything else. We LOVE LOVE LOVE that shopping cart. Plus its so well made I can keep for future grand kids or sell if for big $$$ on craig'slist
