The only thing I know I'm getting for DS in his stocking is a mickey mouse calculator (he loves calculators).

But, I'm really excited about the stocking stuffers I have for my mother and my sister. When I was in China a few months ago I bought them both sets of pearl earings.

I have picked up a lot for my 5YO DD:
Small Lego Sets
A sack of marbles
Giant Jacks and a bouncy ball

Stuff I haven't bought yet:
I always include a toothbrush and an ornament (I think I'll do disney this year).
Lip glosses/nail polish
Hair clips/headbands
Maybe a DVD - Toy Story 3?
Silly Bands if she still likes them
arts and crafts

I also shop for 4 YO boy:
They had Star Wars Clone Wars pens, coloring books at Dollar Spot at Target
Some Imaginext stuff from Target Toy Clearance
Small bagged Lego Sets
Lego Series 2 minifigures

Almost 2 YO girl:
Animalz from last year's sale
Finger puppets
Maybe a small duplo set

I usually do.....

hair accessories
lip balm
candy bar/M&Ms
Schleich type animals/figures
toothbrush
playing cards
socks
play foam
microwave popcorn
pencils
small games like Set, Scrabble Slam, Sorry Revenge, Blink, etc.

Our stockings are not that big compared to many of the larger ones I see in stores these day (which is a good thing IMO), so a lot of the things I see mentioned for stockings would not fit in ours.

What we have for our 4 yo DS

-Toy Story 3 DVD (pre-ordered)
-Dolphin Ring Water Game – Just like my childhood one :heartbeat: Dolphin Game (http://www.amazon.com/Fun-Water-Games-Dolphin-Catch/dp/B001I2BOUE/ref=sr_1_fkmr1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1286399227&sr=1-1-fkmr1)
-Stepper Stilts – (I have to turn them upside down and the bottom lip of them sticks out of his stocking a bit. But, we have a long winter up here and I like any cheap toy that burns off some energy) Stepper Stilts (http://www.amazon.com/Just-Jump-It-Stepper-Stilts/dp/B000ELSZRU/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1286397372&sr=8-7)
-Lego Toy Story Aliens Bagged set
-Dinosaur Egg that hatches in water
-I will definitely get a small amount candy

I picked up most of the stocking stuffers at a local Learning Express sale.

Other things I am considering:

-Automoblox Mini or Playmobil figure to poke out top of the stocking.
-A small set of basic Lego blocks to dump into the stocking as filler – My DS Lego collection is very small. He needs some basic bricks.

I got the dolphin game, the stepper stilts and the dinosaur egg all at our local Learning Express. They had a sale with 20% off everything in the whole store. I had to have the dolphin game when I saw it, I hope DS likes it as much as I used to.

I've just started working on these.

I got a pair of Shoo Shoos warm booties for dd, who will be 9 months then. I'm planning on some hair accessories too (thanks to those who made that suggestion!). And maybe some new teethers. Also a winter hat, I think. That will be plenty for her!

For ds, age 7 years, so far I've got a card game. I'll do some gum. Maybe some new crayons. Some new socks. Will have to try to come up with something a bit cooler to finish his off.

For my cousin's First Communion, I bought a Timex Indiglo with a Velcro strap, glow-in-the-dark hands & numbers and illuminated face.

I found it at Kohl's, but later saw similar watches at Target, and paid about $20.

He loved it so dearly, his parents had to pay him to take it off at night. As far as I know, he's still got it and he was 12 this past May.

Good idea, but I must have the only 7 year old boy on the planet who isn't in to leggos. Santa is actually bringing him more unit blocks this year, at his request.

i shouldn't have gone into pier 1 today... christmas was out and they had their typical little assortment of "stuffers." they also had mini bells (identical to the schilling hand bells we already have but SMALL!!! so cute)-- so i bought some of those, but i think even being small they would take up the whole stocking.

i did get a "magic baby bottle" (you know the ones that have the disappearing liquid?)-- it was more than i would want to spend on such a thing (2.75) but i've been looking for little ones for a long time (all they have at target, toys r us, etc are the really big ones... ). i also got 2 tape measures because the housings were so cute-- animal shapes! i got a honey bear & an elephant. DD found my knitting tape measure the other day and is obessessed with it. she'll get one and i'll get a new "cuter" one.

i do toothbrush and some candy (i didn't do that last year but will probably start this year since lu will be 3). maybe some socks. oh- doll tights! (lu is obssessed with doll dressing)

i also picked up a few things when we were on vacation (sans toddler)-- a japanese paper animal balloon, a mini nesting doll, a mini magnifier dealy, mini chopsticks & a kiddy chopstick helper dealy. probably have other things "stashed" that i'm not remembering.

I went to Ikea this morning and they had a bunch of dress up clothes for stuffed animals for $1.49. Amaya is constantly dressing up her stuffed dog, so this was perfect for her stocking. We got three different sets. This is the only one online, and the one we didn't get (the others were cuter):
http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/40174437

And this truck set for Sebastian, similar to Automoblox? (they are made of many parts and can be combined with the other vehicles). $9.99

confession: i broke down on singamajigs. yes, i think they look a little weird. no, my child doesn't "love" them....

and i didn't just buy one...because how could you? what's the point?i bought ONE FOR EACH OF OUR STOCKINGS!!!!!!!!!!

in my defense i *DID* wait for them to go on sale AND used a coupon. but STILL. 3 ???? tsktsktsk.

craziest part? i'm thinking of going back and getting a couple to send for my dad's stocking and maybe my neice and nephew....my dad sings barbershop-- the harmonizing? i'll have to think about it (my parents are going to be with my brothers family , that's why i was thinking for neice & nephew)

I saw some water games similar to the dolphin game at Dollar Tree today. Not as nostalgic as the dolphin one but maybe good fun for $1 (or a disaster waiting to happen- I will definately test it out before christmas).

Also found some "fossils" similar to these:
http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51i%2B%2BGu16OL._SL500_AA300_.jpg
http://www.amazon.com/Assorted-Dinosaur-Fossil-Skeleton-Figures/dp/B001M2FNH0/ref=wl_it_dp_o?ie=UTF8&coliid=IWK27XARJ2TD1&colid=2S7ZURV0TL9ST
They came 2 dinos to a pack. I thought I'd get a few sets for each of the boys to bury and dig up in the sandbox.

DS1 (will be 6) expressed interest in the little snowglobes ("I've always wanted one of these!!!") but said he wanted one with glitter in it. He likes those bouncy balls with glitter in them as well.

Wanted to mention the Dollar Tree also had some great wrapping paper- rudolph, thomas, lots more.

Found some other small Lego city sets at the checkout at Target- different from the ones they had in the halloween section. $3.99 (I think the halloween ones were $2.99?)

So far this is what I'm planning:

a few Dover coloring books and the little stained glass ones they sell for 1.50 each (adding to an amazon order). My kids have both really been into coloring, drawing, etc. lately.

we usually do balsa wood airplanes (family tradition from my childhood)

chapstick

probably some new play doh (i use it as an excuse to replenish our stash)

some sort of small inexpensive bracelet for DD (she's been asking for one)

everyone usually gets a new toothbrush

one or two candy/food items (often something I don't usually buy for them ;) )

DS1 needs gloves so they may go in there

hair stuff for DD

I'm stumped for the baby as we have klean kanteen sippy, he already has some babylegs, good on socks, my parents are buying soft soled shoes for him, we have lots of nice wooden teethers/rattles/small toys. Gotta find a few things for the little guy!

Sing-a-ma-jigs (2...hope they fit!)
Temporary tattoos
Silly Bandz (his older cousins got him into them)
Balsa Glider
Hatching dinosaur egg
Watercolor set

FWIW, we got him one of these (http://www.amazon.com/Flingshot-Flying-Monkey-with-Sound/dp/B000HFCLZU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1290470910&sr=8-1&rps=1) last year, and it was a huge hit with kids and adults alike. It still gets laughs.

ETA - Richard Scarry card game, Go Fish cards (the eeboo ones that are shaped like fish), and rainbow Babylegs (he likes to wear them on his arms)

i'm finally playing. Is it too late to be in denial that the holidays are here? Ok, fine. Can't wait to read thru this. In the meantime:

Viewmaster Reels
Phineas & Ferb pens
The annual Pez Dispenser
Marshmellows (he asks for these every year, we have no idea why)

Ooh Pez. My kids have been asking for them at the grocery store check-out. Thanks, adding to my list now! :)

I have picked up a lot for my 5YO DD:
Small Lego Sets
A sack of marbles
Giant Jacks and a bouncy ball

Stuff I haven't bought yet:
I always include a toothbrush and an ornament (I think I'll do disney this year).
Lip glosses/nail polish
Hair clips/headbands
Maybe a DVD - Toy Story 3?
Silly Bands if she still likes them
arts and crafts

I also shop for 4 YO boy:
They had Star Wars Clone Wars pens, coloring books at Dollar Spot at Target
Some Imaginext stuff from Target Toy Clearance
Small bagged Lego Sets
Lego Series 2 minifigures

Almost 2 YO girl:
Animalz from last year's sale
Finger puppets
Maybe a small duplo set

Did you get your ornament yet? Disney Store has a TON and they're really adorable and not expensive.

I am now considering getting them for all the families on on our list after seeing what a good job she did..... ie. a more playful version of Willow Tree figurines.

I originally got them to induce Amaya into actually playing with her dollhouse (chalet), but we'll see which stocking they actually end up in.

I've barely done any shopping yet, but I did pick up a couple of Hex Bug Nanos at Target today for stockings. They are on sale this week for $4.99. DS and DD each have one already and they love them.

I am done shopping and I did a trial run on stuffing his stocking, while I was wrapping last night. It is pretty jam packed, since we are limiting the number of presents he is receiving this year under the tree and we don't normally buy him toys or treats on a day to day basis. We do a bigger birthday and Christmas instead.

Here is the final stocking contents:

-Toy Story 3 DVD
-Dolphin Waterful Ring Toss Game
-Stepper Stilts
-Two LeapFrog Explorer Games
-Lego Toy Story Aliens Bagged set
-Phonic Comic book (if it fits, didn't try it yet)
-Little Flashlight
-Little Dinosaur Egg that hatches in water
-Little Fish that grows in water
-Stickers
-Candy
-Playmobil Feeding Birds Set (Santa customized the set to include a Grandma figure instead of a little girl and repackaged in a little bag tied with a bow. DS's Grandma likes to feed the birds and has a bunch of birdfeeders. So, Mommy & Daddy think the set is pretty funny.):love-retry:
