So we are new to the play date scene. DD1 has played with children of very good friends, but never a "blind" play date. Now that she's in preschool we are starting to get invites.

So, friend's mom calls and invites DD1 to her house for a play date. Sounds like a few other kids are invited as well. Mom says they can play, do crafts, whatever from 1-3pm. I ask mom what I can bring and she says nothing that she always has craft stuff on hand. I ask if I can bring a snack and she says no. She also said that parents are welcome to stay or leave and use the 2hrs to get things done. I plan to stay since I don't know this mom or any other parents/kids coming.

Can I really go to this play date empty handed?

I'd bring something, but that's just me -- I do that even when someone says no (even flowers or something).

If she says no craft, I would honor that. Maybe bring an adult snack??
