I have granite countertops in the kitchen and bathrooms. What's the best green way to clean them? I'd appreciate any product recommendations. I do have the new 7th Gen disinfecting spray - anyone know if it's safe for granite?

I have that 7th Gen spray and it's fine for granite, BUT I HATE the smell of it!!!! I've had the bottle for months and the only time I use it is if I'm out of vinegar.

I normally clean my kitchen counters with just a 50/50 solution of vinegar and water. That's all I use on them ever. For the bathroom, I like the BabyGanics fragrance free bathroom spray from BRU. I like it because it has no scent or color, but cleans great. http://www.babyganics.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=60

I read that vinegar shouldn't be used on granite as it's too acidic and will etch the granite.

I agree that the 7th Generation disinfecting spray has a powerful smell. I use it pretty sparingly.

I have the BabyGanics all purpose cleaner and have been using it on the granite, but I don't know if it has disinfecting properties.

I really want to use something that I know will disinfect the countertops. I get pretty worried when I work with raw meats and although I try not to let the raw meat touch the countertops, I'm never 100% sure.

Really? Hmm, I don't think it would be a problem if it wasn't full strength vinegar.

For disinfecting, I use a Lysol wipe. For regular cleaning, I use method's granite cleaner, which smell great and leaves a nice shine.

I'm also looking for something to disinfect Granite countertops and was told by my contractor to never clean the counters with vinegar. The acid is terrible for any kind of stone (marble, also). I just started using tea tree oil and water (1 tsp of oil per 1 cup of water). Unless I hear otherwise from someone on this board, I haven't found any information showing that it's harmful to the stone.
