The girls are having a dress-up birthday party in two weeks. They have asked to be a number of things, but tonight they mentioned being Fancy Nancy....I loved that idea since they could be similar but different with lots of accessories and take advantage of their crazy curls.

I know that Walmart and Target have some costumes, but I'd prefer to get an actually outfit and just accessorize it. So I would love any ideas. If I could find a purple tiered dress that could actually be worn as a dress down the road that would be a plus. I thought I might find something on Etsy but didn't really see anything.

Has anyone seen a ruffly purple dress or anything else that makes you think "Fancy Nancy"? Thanks!

Well, we need to know what size!

So far, I've found:

Not purple, but definitely Nancy-approved, I think:

Ohhhh thanks! Love the pink one but it's going be out of our price range I'm afraid. The purple looks perfect though and budget friendly. I checked Target.com but totally missed that....THANKS! My girls will probably need 4T or 5T.

I'm not sure if you're hosting the party, but my DD did a Fancy Nancy themed party and I got a dozen boas and used them both for dress-up during the party as well as party favors.

I used this site:

What about making tutus as the craft and favor for the party?

I found a dress at the Goodwill. DD pranced around in it. I would send it to you, but it is for a very chubby size 7. We used a lot of safety pins. You should check out your local thrift stores.

Have you seen this? http://www.birthdayexpress.com/Fancy-Nancy-Party-Supplies/42111/PartyKitDetail.aspx

I got this catalog in the mail yesterday. I think it's a little pricey, but you might get some ideas or pieces from it.

I love that idea but we will have mostly boys! I think the count right now is 4 girls (counting DDs) and 7 boys. And all the parents. We are doing it at the park so I'm trying to even decide if any craft/project/game is possible. Or if we should just let the kids run around in their costumes then eat pizza, then eat cake, and that'll be it!
