View Full Version : More boot talk...ankle boots, anyone?

I've followed all the threads about boots and haven't seen anything about ankle boots. I think I need a pair. As much as I love and adore some of the tall boots discussed in other threads, there is no way I'm buying special pants to wear with tall boots...no skinny jeans on this momma!

So does anyone have any ankle boots they love or seen any really cute ones? I need them to definitely be less than 2 inches and casual. This is kinda what I've been looking at and considering:
http://www.onlineshoes.com/womens-clarks-rosabelle-black-leather-p_id194425?adtrack=froogle&term=Women%27s+Clarks+Rosabelle&offer=&ci_src=14110944&ci_sku=233811

Not sure if I want black or brown....probably black.

What do you think???

I have suede ones in black and gray from Target. Love them.

I'll have to check my local Target later this week. I usually don't have luck with inexpensive shoes due to bad feet. Clarks and Naturalizers are the brands that fairly consistently work out well for me (and my old lady feet!).....

Hmmm, I don't particularly like those boots. I looked at the onlineshoes site for clarks boots. What about any of these:

http://www.onlineshoes.com/womens-clarks-mia-wild-brown-leather-p_id114270 -- I prefer the black, but the brown shows the detail.

http://www.onlineshoes.com/womens-clarks-madison-jack-black-leather-p_id153353

These are nice for suede: http://www.onlineshoes.com/womens-clarks-angie-liberty-dark-brown-suede-p_id194442

The heel on these is a bit higher, but I'm 5'9" and would wear these: http://www.onlineshoes.com/womens-clarks-mika-beth-black-leather-p_id194406

http://www.onlineshoes.com/womens-clarks-abbess-jewel-black-leather-p_id194420

IMO, I can go a bit higher in Clarks because they are so comfy.

You could also look at Dansko boots, they are very comfy.

Someone posted about these boots last year I think. There is also a tall version.

I became obsessed with them, but could never find them. I finally bought something similar but without the strap detail. (and for less. :)

Thanks for reigniting the obsession!! :p

I like the last 2, but not a fan of the first 3...our tastes must be very different! The square toe is what I'm not a fan of...and that would probably be better for my feet but I just don't love them. I want to stay away from suede....

I need to do a search and check out Dansko boots. Thanks for the suggestions!

:yeahthat: I like the look of these Clark's ones better.
And Tamiruns, based on the pics I have seen of you and your mentions about running (hello username!) I bet you could ROCK some skinny jeans. Just sayin.

Gilt has some tall boots on sale. Merrel had some cute ones too if you want to go the more comfy route.......

What about Blundstone boots? They are very casual.

http://www.zappos.com/blundstone-bl558-black

There are various styles, mostly the soles are different. I prefer the brown over the black IRL.

These are weird looking, but in a strange way I think I could wear them with a short denim skirt and black leggings: http://www.zappos.com/merrell-tetra-launch-waterproof-black

Thanks but seriously, skinny jeans do not belong on this body! LOL! I'm not chubby, just curvy...and have a strong dislike of skinny jeans!

Need to check out some Merrels, I think....

I have these (I think I was the one who posted about them last year) and they are very comfortable and cute. If you're not a huge fan of the strap detail, it doesn't really show with pants, anyway.

It's the shape of the toe, not the strap detail that I'm not a fan of...I want to like them b/c I love that brown! I need to go try some on....my feet may have a completely different opinion! ;)

I've been looking for almost flat ankle boots too and some of the links show really nice ones specially suede ones (except they get a washed look very fast) but they're way beyond my budgets. I think the most I've paid for a pair is about $80.

I'm wondering how many years of use do you plan to get when you pay about $150?

I don't plan to spend quite that much but I do plan on getting several years out of a pair of leather boots. I love suede but my concern is that they might not look so great after a few winters.

I'm interested in what others have to say.......great question!

I have a fabulous pair of Clark ankle boots similar to the first pair posted and I LOVE THEM. They have held up for 3 years now and I wear them at least 3-4 times a week in all kinds of weather. I wear them casually with jeans (no skinny jeans here either) and with work pants.

There are a ton of boots out now, but I too have had trouble with my old lady feet so I stick with Clarks or Naturalizer. Saw some really cute Aerosoles, but they always seem narrow on me.

I'm still trying to use my Shoebuy groupon and they had some cute Dr. Scholls Boots on Private sale today but I can't find many reviews and the private events don't allow free returns.

Never owned a pair of Danskos.....are they super comfy? I have a serious bunion so comfort is a priority. I need to find a B&M store that has these....and a good sale too! I haven't spent that much on shoes since my wedding!

I did not pay what that online price is for mine. I forget exactly what I paid, but I had a coupon from a b&m Clarks store near me and used that to get 20? 25? percent off, and they may have been marked down.

Nevertheless, I wore them pretty much every weekend last year and sometimes during the week and they look great. I need to give them a quick polish/shine and they'll be ready to go. I expect them to last for a while.

I like the first boot the OP posted. Clarks has a ton of nice ankle boots and booties right now. I know you said you're not a fan of suede - I'm not either, but I tried the Clarks Galley Font booties in the store and they are as comfy as sneakers. The same style is now out in an ankle boot: http://clarks.zappos.com/n/p/dp/67770251/c/329.html

There's also this Clarks pair that has a lot of good reviews (Dara II):
http://clarks.zappos.com/n/p/dp/57131339/c/72.html

I think these (Lyme Regis) are gorgeous (but I know there a lot more than what you want to pay): http://clarks.zappos.com/n/p/dp/67772814/c/72.html

If you sign up for the newsletter on the Clarks homepage, they'll tell you when their promotions are taking place in stores (are you near a Clarks store?). They had a 20% off everything in stores back in September.

Hey we TOTALLY have the same taste in boots...I like all of those and LOVE the Lyme Regis - those are sweet! But I just cannot part with $175 for boots. I would love to try all the Clarks on...and I'll have to sign up for promotions - thanks for the tip!! ( I *think* there is a Clarks store within reasonable distance...)

Tami, high five for same boot taste! :)

Hmm, maybe those Lyme Regis boots could end up under your Christmas tree (though I doubt your DH ends up looking through MomWear posts!). Start that gift wish list going!

Definitely try to get to the Clarks store to try stuff on. I was lusting after a pair of booties that looked perfect to me, but were not comfy at all once I tried them on.

Not sure how often Clarks runs promotions in their stores, but once you know what works best for you, you can ask them when their next promotions are (maybe they will know) or at least hunt around for the best deal.

Tell me about it! I've purged so much old clothes and shoes these past couple months. Everything in my wardrobe was either too small, too big, or out of style.

I just wanted to add that Amazon has a speccial and you can get 20% off (shows up when you check out) and an additioanl $10 off if you have Prime use a Master Card. Here's the Lyme Regis:

I wasn't in the market for ankle boots, but I picked up these with that deal, free shipping and no tax blew away the other options.

I decided to go ahead and order the ankle boots in my original post:

http://www.dsw.com/shoe/clarks+rosabelle+bootie?prodId=210204&brand=300084

While there were many great suggestions in this thread, I tried these ones on last weekend and they were super comfy. Also, I decided that I could wear these with just about anything in my (limited) wardrobe. I just didn't love any of the other boots enough to justify the price. I got these for ~ $71. Which leaves me some $$ for a new purse and a few other things. ;)

Why do I ask for opinions when I end up getting what I like anyway?? Thanks for all the great suggestions. I might have to add another pair to my Christmas wish list!
