After a post on here, lots of debate and research, we decided to buy a couple of the Marathon 70s. Our daughter is almost 13 months old, 23lbs, 31 inches...75th percentile in both categories. We installed our seat rear-facing and when we put her in it her feet were right against the back seat and that was even with her legs slightly bent. She couldn't actually straighten them out completely. The seat is reclined appropriately and we tried it out both with and without a pool noodle under the front of the seat, same result both times. Is this normal for rear-facing?? Is it time that we just go ahead and turn her around to forward facing? Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated? Thanks.

She can put her feet to the side or up higher on the seatback or cross them. It is totally normal for them to run out of leg room and is still much safer than forward-facing them.

:yeahthat: DS sat with his legs proped on the seatback, then when they got longer he hung them over the sides. DD always sat criss cross applesauce RF.

She doesn't need to be able to straighten them out, children are able to sit in positions that we as adults can't do and would consider uncomfortable. She should be able to remain rearfacing for a long time, my tall kiddo's stayed until they reached the weight limits of their seats, well past their 3rd birthdays.

Forward facing a little one puts their neck/spine and LEGS at much greater risk, and from a comfort standpoint, many older children complain once they're turned that their backs hurt and legs are uncomfortable as they "dangle" in the FF position.
