I keep one of these (http://www.target.com/ClosetMaid-88017-Fabric-Drawer-Fuchsia/dp/B002JCTBNY/ref=sr_1_15?ie=UTF8&searchView=grid5&keywords=fabric%20storage%20cube&fromGsearch=true&sr=1-15&qid=1287798577&rh=&searchRank=target104545&id=ClosetMaid%2088017%20Fabric%20Drawer%20Fuchsia&node=1038576%7C1287991011&searchSize=30&searchPage=1&searchNodeID=1038576%7C1287991011&searchBinNameList=subjectbin%2Cprice%2Ctarget_com_ primary_color-bin%2Ctarget_com_size-bin%2Ctarget_com_brand-bin&frombrowse=0) in each closet to contain extra hangers - they're still a jumbled mess but at least they're not all over the place.

Do you have somewhere to hang them in the laundry area? You can hang them there and as soon as items you want to hang come out of the dryer, just hang them right up and take them back to your room. Your extra hangers would get stored in the laundry area. Probably not everyone has a clothes line in their laundry area but they are quite helpful. :) You could just get a back of door coat hanger or something and store them that way. I personally just only have enough hangers for my clothes. When I fill what I own I purge rather than buy more hangers!

This drives me crazy too. I am gradually switching over to Huggable hanger style hangers because I like the little clips that you can put on them to convert to a pants/skirt hanger. I can put the clips in my drawer next to the closet and just put them on when I need to. The HH take up less room and they look nice in my closet! I get a little OCD high when I look at them!

I have a plastic empty hanger holder but not every hanger fits on it. So that has not worked out so great.

All wood hangers. Silly expense but worth it to avoid that daily irritation to me.

I just leave the hangers on the rack. I take the clothes off and leave the hangers.

It's the only way I don't get a big tangle :(

They sell hanger holders like at the cleaners on amazon. I just hang them I'm the bedroom and laundryroom (we use plastic hangers).
