I know this probably belongs in another category, but I'm hoping for more traffic here as I'm running out of time!

What did you do with the wall space above the crib? My daughter has a round crib and therefore this was never an issue, but this time around we got a standard crib and are stumped! Please help! Photos would be great too!

We have her name in big letters over her crib.

Hire someone to come in a paint a picture. You might also be able to use Wallies.

We did a custom vinyl wall decal from this etsy seller.

We have a small tree, owl and her name. I sent them a link to her bedding set and he designed something to coordinate.

I like it because DD can't pull it down on top of herself.

the quilt that came with the bedding set at first. Then their names in letters when they were both in the room and now DD has framed poster prints of butterflies over her converted crib (toddler bed). The frames are really light so I'm not worried about them hurting her if they fall

Vinyl letters spelling her name on the wall. From the ceiling, tree branch I made into a mobile using paper, butterfly punch, bead and fishing line. The mobile is up quite high so she can't reach it to pull it down, even after she can stand.

What do you all think of these ideas...

http://www.landofnod.com/family.aspx?c=1133&f=4672 - to hang OVER the crib (from the ceiling)

http://www.landofnod.com/family.aspx?c=270&f=6570 - to hang on the wall behind the crib

I used vinyl wall clings to decorate the wall behind Ds's crib. I used a mixture of polka dots and silly monkeys. I tried to just place them randomly on that one wall...but it's awfully hard to purposely be random!

I love the paper globes/lanterns. I wanted to do that in Ds's room and maybe even in DD's, but alas, I never seem to get around to it.

You can find those paper lanterns in party supply stores as well. They're a lot cheaper (though I don't know about their size). Just another thought.

I just noticed that the letter decals say not for use near cribs. Any idea why this would be? Doesn't seem to make sense to me as I don't see the hazard.

Great idea about the party supply store! Perhaps I'll check there first before ordering!

I happened to be by a party store this afternoon, stopped in and there they were! Thanks for the suggestion! The Land of Nod ones are 16" diameter and the ones at the party store were 10.5" diameter but heck, at a HUGE price difference ($12.95 each v. $8.99 for 3) I don't care!

If a letter decal comes loose and lands in the crib a baby could chew it, get it pressed onto his/her face or stuff it into his/her mouth.

With my first, I painted the room and painted wooden letters of her name and hung it over her crib. Looked great. I did make sure that if a letter fell, the crib was far enough away from the wall that it would fall behind the crib and not in it, or accidentally it the edge and fall in.

With #2, I didn't want to paint and decided to go with wall decals. Fast, easy to put up (and take down). I used www.dalidecals.com

Her bedding is bird themed so I went with a tree on one wall, they sent me some birds (the brown ones) and I bought the pink and blue ones. I put them all over the room. I bought her name because I wanted it, and chose this theme because I thought it looked like a cloud.
