I just found a link on the Pioneer Woman's website for these pajama pants http://www.punjammies.com/collections/new-punjammiestm , and it got me to thinking about gifts in general. Any recommendations for places to shop for gifts that also benefit charities? Please post links!

Edited, nay, deleted, because I lack reading comprehension skills and didn't answer the question that was posed. :duh:

My current favorite is associated with the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and it's those little cards that people will sometimes use for wedding favors to let you know that, instead of being saddled with yet another dust collector, the $$ the couple would've spent on favors has gone to X, Y, Z charity.

I am considering using their cards as favors for DD's first birthday party in March.

On the other hand, if you just want to shop and feel good about it, friends of mine have recommended GoodShop:

What a great cause! Heifer International, Unicef, and World Wildlife Foundation are others I can think of.

If you live in Seattle, Washington CASH has a retail store where low income people who have opened a small business selling things have their items sold. It is a great program and supports the low income folks directly and supports the training programs that Washington CASH provides.

As a disclaimer, no, this is not where I work. I am however happily wearing a headband from them right this minute and I get a lot of gift items there. Awesome stuff. The height of local, socially aware shopping as far as I am concerned.

You can benefit the charity of your choice by shopping through the www.igive.com portal!

http://www.igive.com/

You sign up, pick a charity (thousands listed, or add your own!) then go to their website and go to your favorite stores via the site and a percentage of your purchase (different amounts for each store) goes to the charity you signed up for. And yes, it DOES work!

If you are looking for gifts that are marketed and sold by a specific charity, I would start searching for causes that mean something to your or your family and then go from there. Google different combinations like "charity shopping" "charity gifts" etc.

We exchange small gifts with my cousins every year and I have been ordering stuff from the Women's Bean Project for the last 4 or 5 years. All the feedback I've gotten has been positive. You can also order their stuff through Overstock.com and Amazon.
