I know, strange request, but I just need to hem one thing for DS's costume. I could try to hand sew it but that could be a disaster since I don't sew. Does anyone know if JoAnne fabrics would let me use a sewing machine for 10 minutes? I'm pretty sure they have them b\c they have sewing classes there.

Thanks!

MIL made DD a costume and then came to town without it hemmed. We called a local sewing machine store and they let her use one for the 5 minues it took to do it. Also do any of your friends have one they could lend you...maybe put out a request on facebook.

You could use hemming tape instead...very easy and would work well for a costume!

I had a handheld one that worked OK. You could also post on freecycle and maybe someone would let you use one to do your hem.

I would use hemming tape or fabric glue.

I love this board! You all are great! Thanks for the ideas! I think I may try the iron-on hemming tape idea. I'm all for easy and quick!

even easier than the iron-on stuff is Mend-It. It's an infomercial thing, but I found it at Ocean State Job Lot and I've seen it at other stores that have an "as seen on TV" display. It really works! I didn't want to pay to get maternity pants hemmed, so I used Mend-it instead.

I used hemming tape for all of my 26 month old DS fall pants that I purchased last year in size 2T and he's too darn short for them. ugh.

Anyways, just be aware that alot of the iron-on tapes are permanent, but htey work. i think they sell some that are not permanent as well.

Bought at Joanns. Ask them and htey'll help you.

For a costume, I would even use duct tape. :)
