It started Friday night. I'm not constipated (and started taking colace per my MD's instructions, just in case!) and have a hemmorhoid the size of a grape. It's sore and uncomfy when I sit/walk, and it even woke me up in the middle of the night. I'm 31 weeks along.

I'm using tucks and Prep. H, but nothing seems to be helping. It's stable, but not improving.

My OB tells me, essentially, that I just have to deal with it.

Any thoughts or suggestions are welcome!!!

I've never had them before or during pregnancy but I did have one after giving birth to DC#2. Nothing seemed to work and then the doctor gave me a sample of a prescription strength product that she had in her office. It worked the first time and I haven't had one since... including after DC #3. It smelled sooooo much better too. Good luck, I know they are very uncomfortable!

I have a lovely family of hemorrhoids. About 3 of them I think. They showed up towards the end of the first trimester for me after I did have some constipation due to a medication I was on. Constipation went away when I was able to stop the med, but the hemorrhoids took its place. Mine typically don't bother me too much, but they certainly aren't disappearing. I use the Prep H cream and wipes. I like the larger wipes vs. the little Tucks ones (well, they used to be little, but maybe they've changed?). I've also heard of using witch hazel. I"ve tried it, but maybe I haven't used it enough to notice any improvement.

For my first pregnancy, a hemorrhoid was my first symptom.
For my second pregnancy, I think I only got them after pushing (giving birth).
This time, they are at their largest though and I've had them the longest.

The more bowel movements I have, the more irritating they become. I really really recommend the wipes for those times.

I feel your pain. I had them after laboring with DS. If it still bothers you you can ask your OB if he/she can refer you to a colorectal specialist to see if there is anything that can be done. I was a little nerevous to see the specialist, but it turns out they see a lot of pregnancy complications.

Good to know! Mine is ... present. Not awful, but not going away, either! I'll get the wipes you recommend Tanya, and I'm definitely going to talk to my OB at our next appointment if it's not better!

How horrible this is.
