During a speech eval, DS feel in love with an older Fisher Price garage set. He especially loved the elevator. I was thinking of getting the Fisher Price stand and play ramp one (the newer one) but he's pretty destructive to toys and didn't know if it would stand up to his abuse.

So I found this KidKraft one on Amazon. Does anyone else have this and can tell me if it's worth trying to track down for a lower price?

Thanks for your help!

The FP Racin' Ramps has an elevator. We don't have this but have used it at the library a little. I can't say how durable it is for certain, but FP LP are built to take a beating.

The Kidcraft is Medium Density Fiberboard. IME, MDF rarely stands up to much abuse. I would look for something plastic.

DD's Mommy and Me classes have had Fisher Price garages that probably are at least 20 years old. I imagine they get a fair amount of abuse in that type of environment, yet they seem to hold up well.

I don't know how old your Ds is, but DD used to love an old (it was her dad's) FP garage with an elevator, and this toy reminds me a lot of it. I think it's still pretty pricey, but it sounds like fun:

I don't know anything about the toy you listed, so I can't help there! Just wanted to offer another less expensive option.

I would bet the FP one is sturdier.

I have the FP one with the elevator. Boo got 2 of them for his 1st birthday. It is relatively durable, but Boo likes to sit on the edge of the ramp for some reason, so the ramps keep deforming and now they don't really snap together. He loves the elevator part, but he gets frustrated because he doesn't realize the car or thing in there has to be on the platform, he just likes to shove stuff in the tower part and gets mad when it doesn't get lifted up. I honestly think the newer big race ramp by FP would be much more engaging, but no way I'm getting him something that big right now!

I vote for the plastic FP ones as well. Also, as weird as this may sound, you might want to try and get an older one as I think (my opinion) that the newer ones aren't as sturdy. Back in the day, my BF had the 70's version and we used it to stand on to reach toys, etc. on high shelves ;)

We have this one and it has held up well - DS1 will occasionally stand on it. The elevator takes some finagling but DS1 can work it on his own now.

I saw that exact one at Costco last year. It looks like it can take a beating and is well made. If you have a Costco close you might want to check. At least with Costco returns are easy.

Here is another idea if he likes space toys. It has an elevator.

we have the kidkraft one. I think it is very well made. BUT if your kid wants to stand or sit on it I would get a plastic one. My son is almost 4 and a few times I have caught him trying to sit on it and I think it would break. But he does love the elevator!

Is it the vintage little people garage, like this?

We have one and it is very sturdy. Might look for a cheaper one on ebay (this one is overpriced)

We got a FP one that was a few years old (taller version with smaller footprint) at a consignment sale for $4. I'd look there. Granted, it isn't as tall as the KK version, but they're pretty happy with it.

Thank you all! I am going to talk to DH and see if likes any of the suggestions and FINALLY make a decision.
