I'll leave out the complicated back story, and just get to the point:

Which kitchen would you choose?

This small Step2 kitchen for $75 (from Target)

This larger Step2 kitchen for $120 (from Costco)
http://www.step2.com/product.cfm?product_id=1283&related=true

The small kitchen has all the basics- oven, burner, microwave, frig, etc. and I'm sure DD would be thrilled with it. The larger one is just, well, larger! But I'm not sure if that's worth another $45 or not. Mind you, I'm not paying for this....my parents and IL's are. But I don't want to seem greedy by asking them to spend more money if it's not much of a difference.

My main concern is that if DD is playing with a friend (or sibling eventually), there just wont be enough room to play comfortably together with the smaller one.

What do you think?

TIA!

Size matters ;).

Get the big one!

We have the $120 and have had it for 7 years- still going strong! I wouldn't want it to be smaller when it comes to more than 1 kid playing at once. It still isn't crazy expensive and I think it's worth it.

We have that one. It's been played with every single day for the past 4 years!

Oh wow, that's a nice one too! I especially like that the frig is on the bottom. The one from Costco has the frig on top, and I'm wondering if a 2yr old will easily be able to reach it and see inside it...

Well, in any case, I think we've officially decided on the bigger one from Costco. Thanks for all your input!

We have this one:

(Got it for $120 two years ago)

It's fantastic. We still use it all the time. Jack loves to sit at the booth and pretend to be working. Or he'll have lunch there.

Bigger is always better with all kitchens!

Eh, my toddler doesn't/ didn't care what was officially the fridge. Ds1 started caring when he was older too. Ds2 has been quite happy just opening and closing anything and not so much imaging making cookies or storing milk in the fridge. It's a great toy that will grow with her.

The larger one from Costco came to DD last Xmas- she was not yet 2. It was great- she could reach the fridge and has really gotten into it in the last 2 mos or so-

The larger is better, esp to store things- there is more storage for the larger kitchen, plus area on the "top shelves"!

Thanks everyone! I'm getting really excited for this kitchen now! DD has been pretending to cook since she was about 14 months, so she is totally ready for this!

That is an adorable kitchen! I wish I had room for something like that, but I need something that can go up against a wall.
