title pretty much says it all. I want to start DD2 on a sippy cup. Which one now works best. DD2 has no teeth at this point.

Playtex First Sipster. 2 handles, soft spout. BPA free AFAIK.

We started with this:
http://www.amazon.com/Nuby-Handle-Straw-Colors-Ounce/dp/B000Y2GY40/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1288828578&sr=8-2
He was already used to sucking a bottle, so this was a natural progression. Tilting a sippy was more challenging.

We started DD with those Nuby straw cups (link above) but then transitioned quite quickly to Playtex straw cups, which I think are easier to clean. The sucking mechanism is pretty similar.
My DS had better luck with the nuby sippys with the soft spout.

I like the soft nuby as the first sippy, b/c it's easier for the baby to figure out. After that switch to playtex, b/c my kids destroy the soft tips and make a huge mess (smash the tip down and spray milk/water EVERYWHERE).

We like the nuby soft tips, we also had the issue with him not figuring out how to tip it upward but he got it eventually!

We used the soft tip Playtex ones the PP mentioned and the Take and Toss cups with the removable handles. I think DD got the hang of the sippy faster because they don't have a valve, so when you tip them the liquid comes out. As a result, they leak so we didn't use them in all situations.

Make sure you get the ones with the handles, the lids just pop but the handles lock the lid in place making it near impossible for infants to get it off.

We use Nuby just because they are cheap, no little parts, and he likes them. I tried a playtex, I didn't like the little valve and he couldn't figure it out at first.

we tried all differrent types before finding the nuby (http://www.amazon.com/Nuby-Spill-Colors-Vary-Ounce/dp/B0019LLC9W/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1288883867&sr=8-2). the cheapest i found them are at marshalls/tjmaxx.

we use these and they are the only ones DD (7 months) will drink from: http://www.amazon.com/NUK-Learner-Silicone-Single-Colors/dp/B002UXQRLG/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1288898676&sr=8-2

Thanks! I had used the Playtex ones with DD1 and it took her ages to get them, like she was over 9 mos. old and I started at 6 mos. old. Between 6 and 9 mos. with her we just sort of gave her back her bottle. We also tried Avent but again she didn't care for the soft spouts.

I actually remembered I had a Nuby that MIL had bought for DD1 when she was 16 mos. old (MIL didn't know the difference so I can't fault her for that) so I tried it with DD2 last night and more water ended up on the floor but she was at least trying to suck on it. I might give her a couple of more days with those and get a Born Free one too as those seem to be popular (however that Nuk one looks to have the same style spout as the Born Free one and is probably way cheaper!:)), and then once she gets it try the Playtex ones. DD2 is 100% the opposite of DD1 who just had no interest in food or sippies until she 9 mos. old, she wants everything in her mouth.

Also Dr. Browns seems to be popular here, any input or am I just thinking that parents want people to see them having hip cups for their babies (:shake: )

Least amount of "parts" to clean, and EASY to clean well. Built-in valve in the silicone spout. BPA free, made in Germany I think. Recommended by dr's office for 6mo old, too. My DD teethes the spout for a bit and then drinks from it. We've had no leaks, as well.

With DD1 I think I tried every sippy on the market and she just didn't like it or couldn't get the hang of it. We switched to Take N Toss straw cups and Nuby straw cups (silicone straw w/ valve) and she took to that really well. I think DD2 might be the same way. We've tried a sippy a few times and no go.
