Well, since everyone else put more than one ;) I'd also like the Playmobil Hospital...or maybe the school - I can't decide!!! Too bad my kids just aren't interested - they'd prefer to get (another) castle...

I gotta say y'all were right about Magnatiles. We just got our this week. I have no patience so we opened them right up vs waiting for Christmas (she's 2, it's all the same to her anyway). And so far I am having at least as much fun with them as she is. Kind of addicting, really.

Oh, if I was a kid? One of those Barbie heads where you can style the hair!

My kids know I want the Lego Harry Potter Hogwarts Castle. My 4 y.o. DS tried to put it in the cart today at Target and said he was going to buy it for me. Sweet!

Me too. In fact, I HAD them when I was a kid but they were called Maple Town. I keep hoping my girls will show some interest because I think they are so darn cute.

i already outed myself-- i'm pretty sure i'd want the playmobil egyptian pyramid-- but i'd also want the sphinx, the tomb set, the robbers set, etc.etc-- the works! :)

for those of you who are eyeing up calico critters-- we are about to hit the mother load in this household when the ILs come for their combo birthday/christmas gifts for DD in 2 weeks. their bringing the manor house:

http://www.liveandlearn.com/shop/calico-critters/cloverleaf-manor-house-cc2043/

about 8 furniture sets, a couple accessory sets and a family

up until this point DD has just had a couple "ready to play" sets (the dentist one is PRECIOUS)...but she always has loved the townhouse set up at our local toy store. i'm a little scared about all the pieces, but it's pretty exciting too, right? that's what i keep telling myself :)-- i've already put away our "developmental dollhouse" in anticipation of needing a space to set the whole thing up! woohoo!

I used to have a house like that. My parents and I built it (you can get most of the things from AC Moore, we had a dollhouse specialty store in the city we live in). It wasn't quite as beautiful as that but it had real working lights (even christmas lights), hand laid tile, wallpaper, and a working fireplace. They still have it in the garage, but sadly I have 3 boys who don't appreciate a fancy pink house.

pinkmom-- that would be the best!!!! it would help me balance the craziness i go through when my ILs are in town!!! (where is that drink with the twisty straw? oh yes, my MIL drank it at my rehearsal dinner after telling us that she wasn't going to pay for anyone elses drinks (they were the hosts)) :):):)

my ILs spend a *crazy* amount on the grands for holidays/birthdays. my child has a birthday right around christmas... so this was our best answer to the "spend up the gift money" debacle we face every year. MILs daughters have *begged* for the gifts to be less and perhaps the kids get money for college, but that just hasn't happened (and is actively resisted and rationalized), and i figure- it's not my money or battle, right? if we were giving this to dd, she'd be getting a smaller house, and the accessories would be spread over time (or perhaps my parents would get her a couple sets a year for a few years or something)...it would *certainly* not be all at once- yikes!!! i'm just hoping it's not a complete bust :( (i mean, it would be, since mommy will have fun (ack! the house has a chandelier!!!), but really- that is NOT the point :( )

last year they did the wood kitchen set (sink/oven & fridge), a TON of extra food, and a ton of other gifts... it was , a ton. i put the kitchen idea out there thinking they would get one or the other piece...for both birthday/christmas. i'm already panicking about next year!

What I wanted then but never got - American girl doll Felicity or Molly. I mostly was a tomboy but I coveted those dolls. Likely because I LOVED reading and history.

Me too! I was a total tomboy but I desperately wanted a Samantha doll. So it would probably have to be that, or as others have said Calico Critters, we had them as kids but just the little animals, none of the other items they were just as $$ back then and my mom would always yell at my Grandma for buying, but we loved them!

If I wanted a toy to play with at my age now, it would be legos.

I would love a fancy dollhouse. I was really into miniatures when I was a kid. I bought and built my own dollhouse, but it was junky because I could only afford a cheap kit. But, my favorite part of miniatures was building, decorating and accessorizing the dollhouse. So, I would love a fancy dollhouse. As a kid I would have loved a dollhouse like the one posted above. Now though I want this Playmobil dollhouse.

http://www.playmobil.de/on/demandware.store/Sites-DE-Site/de_DE/Product-Show?pid=5302&cgid=Puppenhaus

It isn't available yet in the US, but I think it will be soon (maybe in 2011?). That link is from the Germany Playmobil site. But, I have only one child, a little boy, so no reason in the near future to buy that dollhouse. But, a close second choice for me is the Playmobil School Building. And, fortunately that is on the top of DS Christmas list. :D So, I have been having a blast decking out his school building. Next year he will probably ask for a castle or something. Not nearly as fun for mommy to deck out a castle, so I don't feel bad about going all out on the school this year. DH likes the school house as well and I told him this might be as close as I can get to getting my kid a dollhouse, so I am doing it up right. :love-retry:

Thanks goodness the school house has stayed at the top of DS's Christmas list.

Something Playmobil for sure. The Harry Potter lego sets.

And just because I asked for one for years and never got one, a play kitchen. The pink one from PBK would have made me happy :) I bought a play kitchen for DS1 when he was 1 just because of that.

The lavender unicorn pillow pet. :)
Lego Hogwarts (which is why I bought it for ds1).
eta- and I would absolutely love the fancy outdoor playhouse. I have swooned over those many a time.
A cat. I want a cat with a little bow around his or her neck on Christmas morning and I want all the boys to have picked it for me. Preferably a girl so I could have one more girl around here. :)

i wanted to say a big "me too" on the REAL playhouse-- that was always my fantasy as a kid and i love seeing them now

i actually must still be a kid, i just placed a Huge american girl order, for , gulp!, ME. after watching a couple i was going to get DD for christmas go out of stock today (yikes! early shoppers indeed), i panicked and used free shipping ($23 dollars worth) as an excuse to just pull the trigger on a bunch of felicity stuff (it's all being retired and my "collection" is a little thin). did i need a tea set? no. did i NEED a little horse? no. (my parents got me the big horse for my samantha) did i need the outfits? maybe ;)

anyhow-- DH is completely done "shopping" and i'll have another dolly christmas (last year i got kristen and all the goodies i could grab up for her).

I love that set! I think I'd actually rather have that than the original dollhouse I posted - way more "play-able"

My son just got back from Germany (trip with Grandmom who is German) and came home with a set that is from the "Secret Agents" line, not available yet here. OMG, this set is so darn cool. It has this crank type flashlight/power source for it that is so German! And when you plug the set into it, the "robot/Frankenstein" lights up like you're charging him! The power source also has a black light bulb that makes other things glow on the set. It's also just good as a regular flashlight (I actually have one just like it from his previous trip to Germany).

AACCKKK! I should've linked to it, because now I can't find it again!!! My SIL/BIL are thinking of doing a kit for their girls for Xmas and I was helping them find a kit they'd like when I stumbled upon that one. It's just gorgeous, isn't it? I have searched and searched, but can't figure out where I saw it - I'm sorry! I'll keep trying...
