Purple foam building toys - NY parks?

We started talking to a guy who son was playing with the Thomas trains at TRU. One of the thing we talked about was a toy he saw when in New York. He said they were large pieces of purple foam that came in various shapes the you could interlock and build forts with. He had seen videos and thought they were really neat. And that New York had even bought some for some of their parks. The problem is he couldn't remember their name.

Does anyone know what they are called?
