Can anyone recommend a good veggie steamer? I am in the market to purchase one.

It depends on how much you need to steam and how often you plan to use it!

I had a lovely little steamer pot with the glass portion that sits on top. And then my mom broke the glass portion so now all I have is a pot. I do not recommend that route even though it was so pretty to watch things steam!

We use our Tupperware Microwave Steamer EVERY SINGLE DAY. It not only steams in 5 minutes, but it is great for reheating things like rice or wraps where you need a little moisture to soften something up. This is great, too, as it takes up very little storage space and can be used to serve from. We have the older version, but here is the newest one http://www.tupperware.com/coe/app/tup_show_item.show_item_detail?fv_item_category_co de=4000&fv_item_number=P10058979000

That said, plastic is soooo last century :tongue5:

This is the one I REALLY want lately...

but I have to ask myself if I really NEED one more thing taking up space?

We use our rice cooker 3-4 times per week. Many rice cookers are also listed as a steamer. Mine is the MOST BASIC version which did not come with a steam basket. From everything I have read online, this is totally the way to go...so maybe a new rice cooker is in order? If you do rice alot or would like a "set it and forget it" appliance, this might be a good idea for you, too!
