What's the best gift you ever gave your spouse or received from them (and I do mean actual presents that you wrap up)? I'm trying to come up with Christmas present ideas for DH. He is definitely the toughest person on my list to shop for.

I love the porch swing DH bought me. My Kitchen Aid stand mixer would be a close runner up.

It was for his birthday, not Christmas, but I once gave DH (then BF) a replica of the trolley from Mr. Roger's Neighborhood. He had said he wanted one, and I had SO MUCH trouble finding one. This was in the days before the WWW. I finally found one, and he loved it. We still have it on a shelf in our bedroom.

I think he appreciated the trouble I went to more than the item itself.

Whirley Pop Popcorn maker. Makes "movie theater" type popcorn on the stove. LOVE IT. I am a popcorn whore, can eat an entire large tub at the movies.

Let's see, I think DH would say that his favorite gifts from me would be his Wii and his personalized MLB team jersey.

One of my favorite gifts from him (besides jewelry) is a hammock.

I got DH a framed old-style map of SoCal, where he's from. He also loooves the "DADDY" pics set from Father's Day. He also really wanted a globe on a stand, so he liked that too. Loves his hammock and Weber grill.

I really really like my iPad. :)

I am probably missing something more.

My best gift to DH - a Browning over and under 410 shotgun (probably not relevant to OP, but DH was thrilled and shocked that I researched it and bought it myself)

His best gift to me - not Christmas, but I love my iPad, too!

A pair of wireless headphones for listening to the TV while the kids are sleeping. Around $100 and worth every penny.

Great ideas so far! Some of these are things that *I* would definitely like to get, but he usually does a good job of buying me gifts without much help.

a woodworking class where he got to use big lathes and other tools to make bowls. Tools much bigger than would ever fit in our garage. :)

I think the best gift I have ever bought for DH is his espresso machine. He uses it every single day. It has saved me money too because he doesn't go to Starbucks every single day.

_Unknown Quantity: A Real and Imaginary History of Algebra_ by John Derbyshire

He's read that book/picked it up to scan-read at least a dozen times since he got it (and that was 4-ish years ago)

I found an original Atari console and about 30 games on ebay one year and won it for DH. Took him back to great childhood memories.
