We opened a new game tonight and it was pretty fun to play. Smath (http://www.amazon.com/Pressman-Toy-5200-06-Smath/dp/B00004NKL3/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1289529929&sr=8-1). It's more-or-less Scrabble with numbers and operators to form equations. We took out the division, as DS1 doesn't do division other than by 2 yet. And, we didn't use the parentheses at all. But, he had a good time and it'll definitely grow with him and be used with harder math down the road.

Just don't let two math nerd adults play it trying to use as many parentheses as possible.

Yeah, DH and I are both engineers. Even without the parenthese, we got some nice equations! I am sure if it were only the 2 of us playing, it would be just awful!

What's neat about the parentheses, is that they are clear tiles and you put them on top of tiles already played, so you can change the equation after the fact.

I bought this game at a thrift store and gave it to DS for Christmas last year. He was a little too young then (6) to really play it, but my (nerdy) brother and I had a lot of fun with it!

Thanks for the reminder about the game. Now that DS is more advanced in math, I should dig it out and try playing it with him again.
