and my itchiness has ended (except for hemorrhoids!).
I was induced on November 3rd for cholestasis and actually went into labor with just cervidil. However, the OB kept pushing a c-section due to my frequently changing position daughter (Baby B). They were having trouble keeping readings with the external monitors on both babies. I would have had to sign against medical advice in order to even go without an epidural. Eventually, we compromised and I got the epidural. Then there were no O.R.s available and I had to deliver in an O.R. with an OB present. The epidural stalled my labor. When and O.R. became available the next night, they broke my boy's water, then later had to give me pitocin. Finally, they were born on the morning of November 5th after having the epidural for over 17 hours.
Anyway, despite the disappointments of having an epidural, having to be on my back on the O.R. table pushing uphill with them shoving my face to my chest and hurting my ribs and holding my breath until I had trouble breathing at all, hooked up to various things and having to have the probe put on my little girl's head and eventually having forceps for her, I did have a vaginal delivery of two healthy twins that were 6 lb 3 oz and 6 lb 1 oz with apgars of 9 each.
Unfortunately, shortly after their birth, I lost a lot of blood and had a blood transfusion. I got my blood test results from Wednesday and my hemoglobins are nearly normal and my elevated liver functions are coming down (from the itchiness thing). My recover has been much more difficult than my two previous natural, births. I'm still struggling with a lot of back pain from the epidural.
We're now struggling with getting enough formula and breastmilk into my baby girl and keeping her awake, so we're getting frequent doctor visits and weight checks. Our baby boy is nursing like a champ though and has a set of lungs on him.
