OBX | Williamsburg in late April

Any suggestions of what to see/do, esp in OBX, in late April. We're thinking of going Spring Break since both school and daycare are closed the week before Easter. We'd go to OBX for a few days (thinking 2 nights/3 days) and then W'Burg on the way back north for 2 days 1 night or 3 days 2 nights. We'd be starting and ending the week with weekends in VA @ MIL's (that'll break up the otherwise long drive).

We're not beach people, so if it's not hot enough for beach weather that's perfectly fine w/ us!

Suggestions of where to stay in OBX? Nothing too extravagent, but a step up from Motel 6! Hampton Inn?

There's a HA outlet in W'burg :bag

We were in that area recently and found a nice cabin on homeaway.com -- there's also vrbo.com. We liked it because we had a kitchen...and it was cheaper than a mid-range hotel.
