DD is asking for a microphone for her bday or Christmas. (thank goodness we're moving to a place with a finished basement :rolleye0014:

Anyway, most of the options I've seen get pretty bad reviews.

I want something (well, DD wants something...) that will amplify her voice a bit. Some of the toy microphones don't amplify at all.

There are a lot of themed ones like Dora, etc. but she doesn't watch most of those shows, so having something like that with 4 little songs she can sing along with isn't really what we're after.

or

I'd prefer to keep under $50 or so as she wants a few other items. If anyone has one they like I'd love to hear about it.

We have this one. http://www.thetoypad.com/shop.php?prod_id=821
Dd1 got it when she turned 5 and 2 years later it's still going strong.

no experience (my kids don't need amplified) but I think the parents one is cheaper at Target in the store.
