DD loves dolls (although she's not particular about which one) and I keep looking at the Bitty Twins for her but I haven't bitten the bullet and I think it's because I'd really like one with curly hair. DD's hair is very curly and although I don't need the doll necessarily to look like her, I think it might be cute. And I haven't seen a doll with curly hair! Can anyone recommend one, or have one, or did I just miss that on the Bitty Twins?

FWIW, she does have a Bitty Baby that I bought on Craigslist but that one doesn't have any "real" hair.

I'm assuming you are looking for something like the BItty doll in terms of styling, not something like an 18 inch doll, right?

eta: I think the hair is tougher to maintain when it is curly so there are fewer options . Hopefully someone can help find a doll that works for you.

I'm not sure exactly what I'm looking for, honestly. Although I saw a Fancy Nancy 18" doll today with curly hair that's pretty cute. DD's hair looks red in pictures (more blonde in person) and I think she might like the Fancy Nancy stuff down the road.

I was thinking curly hair would likely be harder to maintain. I've seen some longish, wavy hair, or curlier hair on ethnic dolls though.

You could check out waldorf dolls. I've seen pictures of some with curly hair.

:yeahthat: There are tons and the yarn curls are easier to maintain. Bamboletta is a fun place to look, but they are almost impossible to get. Just search Etsy for waldorf dolls. Some I like to look at are Rainbow Dolls, Dragonfly's Hollow, and Tumbleberry dolls. We have Waldorf dolls from Chimi and Changa and love them.

How about a Cabbage Patch Kid?

Here is a Madame Alexander baby with curly hair:

Gotz has had some curly haired "muffin" dolls (look babyish) in the past with curlyish hair but I'm not seeing much right now.

eta: here's a maxy muffin (out of stock...I haven't seen this style in a few years but maybe on ebay???) with brown curly hair:

Kathe Kruse has some waldorfy ones but they are around the $100 price point.

I'm guessing there are KK dolls w/ curly hair and a vinyl body (not a waldorf doll)b they are likely fairly $$$.)

She is adorable! But I don't think I'm ready to spend that much on DD's dolls...yet, anyway.

Thank you for the links. I always thought of Madame Alexander dolls as collectible, fragile dolls and didn't realize they also had play dolls. They're very cute!

Here's one more - more wavy than curly but the price is right!

Oh, I had pretty much decided but that one is very cute. I think DD would love the thumb...and the price is good. Hmmm. How many dolls does she need, again? :)

I'd skip the curly hair. We bought the curly haired Bitty Twin for our oldest and a straight haired one for the youngest. It is so hard to keep the hair looking nice. She can't brush it or even comb it. The straight hair is so much easier to deal with.

Saw this on etsy and thought of you - ignore the price tag!
