Ok, here is my dilemma. I do what I can to budget and also buy organic or all nat, but I cannot afford organic milk right now. DH lost his job 3 mos ago.

For DS2 (14 mos) I was feeling okay with hormone-free conventional milk until DF sent me an article explaining that lowfat conventional dairy was ok but to avoid highfat conventional dairy as the yucky stuff [dioxides(?)] like to concentrate in the fat.

With coupons on sales, I can buy liquid organic Similac for .86 and get quite a supply. Ingredients are Organic Nonfat Milk, Oils, Sugar, and all the vitamins.

So which is better:
lowfat conventional milk or organic formula

ETA: I guess I should've asked, which is best:
conventional whole milk (dioxins not so bad?)
conventional lowfat milk
organic formula

Also, he does still get breastmilk, but I don't think my supply is all that at this point.

*I* would definitely not give a 14 mo low-fat milk.

Fat is very important for the brain development of kids under 2, so I would continue using hormone-free whole milk.

Toddlers don't actually need milk, although many people think so. They can get healthy fats from other sources like avocados and just drink water and occasional juice. Good for you for breastfeeding past 1! Even once a day is great.

I would just stick with the hormone free whole milk.

ditto hormone free milk. i would not give the formula since it's not necessary and since you're still breastfeeding, milk might not be necessary at all. how many times a day are you nursing him?
