I'm looking for something that is easy to use and free so that I won't need to text as much through the phone. Anyone have any recommendations?

Thanks.

Texting apps use the 3G or 4G network to send "text" messages. It's really no different than sending an email. So if you're trying to find a way to avoid having to pay the fees to send text messages (which are sent over the cell phone provider's network), then sorry, this won't do it!

Techies, correct me if I'm wrong!

eta: ok I looked and it seems that I'm totally off my rocker:) Ignore!!

I use TextFree. Very good app, but with some limitations (because it's free.) For example: you can only send a text to one person, not to multiple people at the same time. When I want to send the same message to multiple people I just copy the message after I send it to the first person, and keep pasting it into a new text. HTH.

If you create a Google Voice account and get a phone number (free) then you can text it. I find it better than TextFree.
