Does anyone have a recommendation for tea sets? We're planning on getting it for DD but I know DS will want to play with it, too.

Porcelain/breakables are still a no-no at our house (as far as tea sets). ;)

Thanks!

My absolute favorite tea set is the Green Toy Tea Set (http://www.greentoys.com/tea.html?gclid=CPe7zsmNzaUCFQoEbAod6CaBlA). It is a decent size, unbreakable, reasonably priced and you can actually use it.

Second the Green Toys set. It's really cute, I love the colors.

We have the Green Toys set and this one: http://www.amazon.com/Playskool-00772-Magic-Tea-Party/dp/B00005BRW5/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=toys-and-games&qid=1291292579&sr=8-1

We haven't put actually food or drink in either, so that isn't a big deal. The only reason I would almost prefer the Playskool one is that it has a tray. The girls use the tray to carry it from their room to the living room and it's much easier to clean up that way. We have another tray that we use for the Green Toy Tea Set, though, and it is cuter.

We also love the Green Toys set. I don't put food/drink in it, we just use imagination.

I have had many a cup of tea from that set.

We also have a cute metal set which is by Schylling http://www.schylling.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=SD&Product_Code=CTTS&Category_Code=RP-TS

But it is small...the cups are small and the top to the pot is tiny, depending on how old your DD is it might be a choking hazard.

Another vote for the Green Toys tea set. It gets lots of play at our house.

I know you said no porcelain, but I was at Ikea the other day and I had to physically restrain myself from buying this set!

And now I'm regretting it all over again!

we have the green toys tea set, the plan toys wooden tea set, a schyilling tin teaset, a porcelain child's teaset (larger, more pieces), a tinkerbell teaset, a pbk fabric tea/coffee set, a tiny peter rabbit teaset, and probably some other random things i'm not remembering... this doesn't include MY teasets-- which often become fair game around here ;) we might have a problem,err... i mean "collection."

we like them all for various reasons... honestly - i don't feel you can go wrong. the green set can be used outside/in the bathtub/to really hold liquid-- it's virtually indestructible, but still really cute (not cheapy looking like lots of plastic teasets. it's whimsical!). the wooden plan set is sorta MY favorite. i like the weight, the tea bags, the little spoons and THE SUGAR CUBES-- that puts it over the top for me. it's also very gender neutral (the accent colors are yellow/orange/green if that matters). the schylling tin teaset has a tray, FOUR cups and ...the best part-- the pot sings "i'm a little teapot" which is adorable (and one of my daughter's favorites). the tinkerbell set was picked up very cheap and it has a tinyset included just for tiny fairies. the pbk fabric tea set is great "decor" plus it is soft and super safe from probably 6 months on.....you could use the "pots" as pillows. the tinyset looks straight out of fairy land (but it's porcelain, so used under mommy's strict supervision). we like them all, which is good, because- we have them ;)

that said- i'd get the green toys or the plan set. that's what i'd probalby get as a gift if i was in the market (unless i knew the child really liked musical things, then i'd get the schylling)

oh-- and i wanted to comment on the IKEA coffee/tea set. it's so stinking precious!!! it's also just about the ONLY ikea kitchen accessory we don't have (we also don't have the breakfast food..and that's literally it...oh- and the linens, because i didn't see them in the store the other day and when i looked online they said "not available" for our store...hopefully SOON-- those are REALLY cute. i might get more than one set)

we DO have the plates (haven't unearthed them from the stash yet... i try to space it out). we DO have the glasses set (used to be clear "glass"ware-- i picked up the multicolored the other day, i think they'll come out in spring) we're probably going to end up with the ikea set eventually...it really does seem inevitable every time i see it...but so far, i've resisted!

It's BPA free and FDA approved for food use. I drink Celestial Seasonings Peach or Blueberry tea from it quite often. LOVE it!

I see you are passing down to your children your love of collecting kitchenware. :D Any time I'm in a department store now and see the collections of china I think of you. :waving4:
