DD and DH went to a party on Sat and I guess he had to drag her away from the Magnatiles. I always thought they were cool but I figured that DD was too young and wouldn't be interested....now I think that we should get her some for Christmas.
So....are there any decent deals to be had out there. I'm looking at the smaller 32 piece set right now.

There's a discount code posted in the pinned thread at the top of the forum:

I would highly suggest the 100 tile box. 32 tiles is not enough for building complex and interesting projects. My 3.5 DD uses these daily and has been doing so for the last year. She loves them!!!!

I'll second that. We actually just expanded to 200 pieces for 2 kids.

I'd also recommend the 100 if you can afford it. We started with 100 for DS1 a few years ago and DD jumped right into playing with them (a lot!) even though she was newly 2 at the time. We added a 2nd set of 100 not long after that.

We've also found they are a lot of fun to play with as a family...all of us will sit down and build together sometimes. We like having a good number of them. THey aren't cheap and I held off for a loooong time because they seemed over priced. They've gotten a lot of play at our house and on playdates kids always seem drawn to them.

My kids are building garages with them right now in fact :)

DD is a March 08 baby, we have the 100 and will probably buy 100 more next Christmas.

Just chiming in to agree with the others!

DS got 100 3 years ago at 3.5 and they were a huge hit. DD started playing right away (18 months). We added another 100 a month or so later and 200 is a great amount for 3 kids even.

I'd skip the 32.

If you can't afford the 100 set- the 48 piece set is a fun starter since it comes with some unique pieces (wheels, door, etc)
We started with the 48 piece and added 100 clear- looking to add another 100.

that's what we did, the 48 and then the 100 and another 100 and I am contemplating a third set of 100.

my two year old has been building with them for awhile. At first toddlers stack them flat like a stack of pancakes and it's a great way for them to build tall stacks.

my seven year old makes houses for her Littlest Pet Shop and for Barbie. (she used to call them "sticky blocks" when she was little because they stick together)

this may be the best toy ever, for all ages.

Last week, there was a code for edufuntoys.com that brought it to $101 shipped for the 100pc. set. It is an add-on to our 100 piece set that keeps coming up short. We've always done it from grandparents as a group gift.

I just ordered the 100 set directly from the company that makes them. (Valtech?) Used code "Friends and Family" for additional 15% off. Came to around $105 with shipping.

Anyone try Magformers as a cheaper alternative? Saw them on QVC and they were getting rave reviews.

We have the magformers. DS seems to like them and has build some amazing structures.

I have the 100 set and really want to get another. DS is buiding some cool stuff and runs out of tiles frequently. Do you have a local toy store? Our local educational store freq runs 20% of coupons, and recently had a 25% off coupon. That is how I got my first set for under $100.
