when i was little i had a little "desk" thing - was a box with a chalkboard and two little sliding doors. inside the doors were magnetic letters and numbers that would stick to the chalkboard

also came with these cut-outs that would spell words - you could put them on the chalkboard and then fill-in the with the right magnetic letters

is this poor description ringing a bell for anyone?

do you know if they sell this kind of thing anymore?

i totally know what you're talking about! it was made by fisher-price and i have not seen it sold in stores in a loooooong time. i do see it occasionally in thrift stores, but it's always missing pieces.

I don't know if they make it now (I doubt it) but have seen some vintage ones around at yard sales and ebay of course :)

seems like they might have a "current" one that replaces the chalkboard with dry erase markers...but that is just asking for trouble. chalk is much safer with DS
