Northpole, NY?

We are headed to Northpole, NY this weekend for one of their Holiday weekend celebrations. For any of you that have ever been I was wondering if a lot of the activities are outside? I know that they have an "amusement" park, but we can forgo that if it is too cold. I don't want to have to pack a lot of extra warm clothes if we are only going to be shuttling from the hotel to the car to another indoor venue.

I hear that Northpole, NY is near Lake Placid so any suggestions of things to do in the area are welcome.
