So my oven stopped working tonight while trying to cook dinner. No warning, it just didn't turn on. The top burners work, but the oven was cold.
This stove/oven combo is approximately 17 years old and is a pretty bare-bones model (no self-cleaning, nothing really digital). I am hoping and praying that the home warranty company will just decide to replace it rather than repair it, especially since the oven hasn't worked great the entire time we've had it (it has never heated even remotely evenly or at the appropriate temp.
All that to say, if we get to replace it, what should I replace with? Currently we have a GE gas range/oven combo. I would love to have a gas range with electric oven, but that's out of the budget. Sears will be doing the repairs, so likely it will come from Sears.
Would you get an electric oven/range or all gas again? Smooth top electric? What brand? What features (self-cleaning is a must!).
