I have some pretty long necklaces and they just keep getting tangled, by itself and/or with other necklaces. It's so frustrating, when I'm trying to get to work on time in the mornings and my jewelry is all tangled up.

I was wondering how you guys keep necklaces from tangling. I was looking for a jewelry tree but most are short. Anyone have any ideas or maybe recommend an extra tall tree?

I have the same problem. I am happy with my jewelery tree- it's the fancy lady from Bed Bath & Beyond. They have a couple of styles.
I was in Christmas Tree Shops today & they have a whole bunch of whimsical (sp?) styles.
I don't put my expensive jewelery on it, though. I keep that in a jewelery role. I have lots of cheap funky stuff- that's what does great on the tree.

I have a hanging accessories organizer in the bathroom, but hang a couple of long necklaces that tangle up on the hook the organizer hangs on (just a 3m hook), instead of placing them within. Maybe this would work if you don't have too many? Or if you do have lots maybe you could string them along a ribbon or dowel of some sort?

I bought an expandable coat rack and hung it inside my closet. It works great!
It looks like this:

I'm thinking about putting up a board with small hooks behind my bedroom door. It is out of the way and not unsightly since 99% of the time it would be hidden by the door. The reason I'm thinking about a board is if I put a bunch of holes in the wall DH would be ticked off...but one to hang my necklace hanger would be fine.

I'm thinking 10-20 small, brass craft hooks (one for each necklace) maybe staggered in two levels on a flat piece of finished molding or similar wood. I'm pretty sure I could make and hang that in an hour or less.

those are all great ideas. I guess I could get a pretty cork board/bulletin board (is there such a thing?), and put some push pins in to hang the jewelry on.

Oooh...great idea...with the cork board. I've seen some pretty picture boards at Kohl's or target. I think they're called French memo/bulletin boards.

Here's a simple pretty one from Target.

If you're feeling crafty, here is what you get when you do a google image search on "diy jewelry organizer". Making one from a frame and screen is on my "someday" list.

I also like the simplicity of a cafe rod. (right under the words "Page 2" on the above link.)

I made this:

and I LOVE It. It was really easy to do.. and cheap! And I like that it can hold as little or as much as I want

i made one of those once just using a regular plain cork board and covering it with fabric. quick, easy, inexpensive.

has anyone tried a tie-rack/organizer?
