I am usually a pretty competent cook, in fact if my friends ever get together for dinner, in the past I have always been the one to cook.
However, I have never cooked roast beef and Im not quite sure how to do this correctly. To be honest, I have never been able to get myself to spend how much a roast costs for just DH and I but I was able to get one on sale and with a coupon. Its small.
I have sweet potatos and carrots and celery. Can I just brown this in a dutch oven on the stovetop, throw in the veggies and then put it all in the oven to finish cooking? Does that make sense?
Also, I want to make gravy but all the recipies I see for how to do this involve red wine or onions or mushrooms or beef stock - lol we have none of those things (although I do have some beef buillon??).
Any guidance would be appreciated!
