I really like how down keeps me warm and isn't too heavy. I need a longer coat however. I've narrowed it down to these options:

Isis Snow Queen II

650 fill goose down
weight 2lb 7oz

or something from Land's end

Sidney

650 fill

Dory

550 fill

I like the look of the REI one best. I can't comment on warmth though. A coat like that is on my wish list. :)

North Face makes a great long down coat. I have an Eddie Bauer one that's been fabulous too.

Are you looking for opinions? Which color are you leaning towards?

Looks like your last one is only available in XS. (eta: and plus sizes, I see those now)

I have the LE Chalet coat and LOVE it: http://www.landsend.com/pp/DownChaletLongCoat~148651_59.html?CM_MERCH=REC-_-FPPP-_-GGT-_-1-_-175325-_-383336

I think its a bit longer than the Dory, but doesnt have the fur trimmed hood.

I like the REI one the best. Some of the Dory reviewers complain it's not warm enough...it's 550 fill vs 650 on the other two coats. The Sidney has big buttons that I don't care for (if you go to plus, and click on ivory, you can see the details better. I always try to look at the lighter colors to get a better sense of the details on garments.)

SRHS: Yes I'm looking for opinions, and trying to justify the Isis one over the land's end, due to the price difference. I have some other lighter Isis down jackets and love how they are not too boxy.

As for color, I want a shade of grey to go with the Sorel Cate the great boots in the grey. I ordered the Isis coat in Shade, a color from last year.

I think I wear a small in LE coats, and the small was in stock in both LE styles yesterday. I guess that limits my options.

Chinook: I haven't tried coats at Northface or Eddie Bauer. I'll have to see if they are carried at my store, but really don't want to trek to mall this week!

Bubbaray: Thought I saw the Chalet at the store, but I must have searched wrong on the lE website because it didn't come up. I think I should try that one on too!

Well, I'm a North Face and LLB fan; maybe that's why I like that Isis a lot better than the LE coats. :)

Ok, well then I wanted to say I do like the first, but I do not like that green fir color one bit! The brownish-gray one is great. Just wanted to be sure you wanted opinions before I spit that out. ;)
I have an LE one; I think the style was Angel something. I got it 2 years ago, and it looks brand new. I don't love it for style, but it is warm.

I've had the Sidney and just recently bought the Dory. Also had a North Face one tho cant recall the name of it. Sidney is definately warmer but I didnt really care for the look of it. Dory is much prettier and has a deeper, bigger hood. So far it hasnt been colder than low 20s (in the early morning) and the Dory has been just okay. I still feel the cold. I'm debating on getting something warmer. I wish they made the Dory with more down fill.
