I'm wondering if they are "more" waterproof than typical sherling/suede boots (emu, uggs) since they have the croc plastic bottom? I have never been on the crocs bandwagon, but I really like the looks of these. I see uggs and ugg-type boots everywhere, and want to know what all the fuss is about. I tried some of the knock-offs (Target, Old Navy) but really disliked them. I can't spend $100+ on one pair of shoes, so I'm trying to find something that costs less but it still practical for the snowy and cold upstate NY winters. How durable/cleanable is the suede? I have a pair of tall boots similar to the bear traps ellery that many of you bought, but they do not keep my feet warm on cold days. They also get salt stained very fast, but it is easy enough to wipe off. It seems to be like the suede would get trashed. Can any one weigh in on that?
