Crayola 150-ct Crayon Tower $2.90 at Staples (YMMV)

My Staples store had Crayola telescoping Crayon Tower for $2.90 and the telescoping Pipsqueak Marker Tower for $3.60. There were a ton of them, but near the food and cleaning supplies. The tags said regular price is $10 on the crayons, but walmart.com has them for over $20 and the markers for $15.xx.

ETA: I wanted to edit this to add that this was under a "clearance" banner, but near the food. There was lots of other clearance merch as well.


Edited to add that according to other posters, these are the SKU #s that people have reported the stores need to look up the item. These are different than the UPC numbers that appear on the receipt:

Glad you all are finding them, too! I agree it's too good a deal not to share/donate. I gave one to the lady who regularly cleans our house on her way out the door today to give to her son. FYI...we have both towers already and the crayon tower stays up pretty well, but the marker tower collaspes constantly (see reviews on amazon). But for the $ you can't beat the price for the markers!

This is true! I got myself a pretty little sticky pad note for 50 cents, and they had school supplies including toy story notebooks, chore charts, fabric zippered pencil pouches, huge large paper clips, etc.

We actually give DS1 a Hess truck every year for his birthday because they come out around Thanksgiving and his birthday is 11/28. This year it's a space shuttle. Not one of my most favorite but still a really cool toy IMO... he's definitely been enjoying it. :) GL!

I found the markers but not the crayons, the lady was a little shocked when they rang up at $3.60 when they were in a display saying they were $10! She checked all of ours locally for the crayons and found no crayons there either. I did get a bunch of little clips, fancy paper clips and glue sticks out of the .50 cent cart though!

She said the computer showed them on hand and on clearance so she wanted to make sure they actually had them. She Took my name and number and called within a few minutes. So happy! Got 2 markers and 3 crayons..

The markers were not marked and were in with the regular crayola items...The crayons were in a labeled sealed box up with the storage...

When I asked the salesgirl about them she told me that that box was just being used to store other items, and that the crayons went on clearance 6 mos ago so she knew they did not have any.

I asked another salesperson if he could come open the box and he did and the entire box was filled with the crayons!

I went to pay and the manager rang me up and he said "these are a great deal, we found out about the pricing today and we havent even had a chance to put them out yet"...

Found the crayons at Sarasota, FL on S Tamiami Tr. I had to ask the clerk to get the sealed cardboard box down from the top shelf above the crayon section. They had about 10 left. I didn't find the markers there. The clerk was making small talk and asking if they were christmas gifts and how nice they were for kids and then he saw the price and said "wow, where were these?" and the lady behind me in line asked about them too. So there might not be any left now LOL

My closest Staples just told me that they are getting more crayon

They said it's really weird. The computer shows it as a clearance

Just went to the Staples store. They have not unloaded the truck
yet. The customer service guy said the computer showed 6 of
the crayon towers on the truck. He also said the computer showed

He said that it takes them awhile to unload the truck and he is going

I think that their inventories are pretty accurate so definitely keep hunting and asking the store. I went to one earlier in the week and bought the ones that they had out. I asked if they had more and the girl at the register said the system showed that they did have a lot more. She called up another employee to check and that woman was adamant that they were all out. I just got back. They weren't out on the shelf but there was one cardboard box of each way up high (in the arts and crafts area). A sales associate got them down for me and said they were probably a new item which is why they weren't out on the shelf. OP here again and I was having serious remorse for not buying more, but I really haven't been out on any errands (I know, shocker!). Anyway, I was near a different Staples today and they had none on the floor but 2 cases of markers and 1 case of Crayons up high, across the aisle from the crayons/art stuff. The sales guy got them down and confirmed the price (but I think he was oblivious to what they were or that it was a great deal, especially given that he couldn't see what they were). I put two both cases in my cart (6 units each), I couldn't help myself! When I checked out, the elderly checker said, "You are getting a great deal here." At first he was incredulous that it was just 6 x $2.90 for the case of crayons (he was confused by the words "150-count" which just refers to the crayons). I mumbled something about donating them to a good cause (which I will)!

I left one case of markers behind (Woodland Hills, CA store).

But what I really wanted to say was THANK YOU for the coupon! I got 6 markers and 6 crayons for less than $35!! It's the deal that keeps on giving!! :yay:

They have both the crayons & the markers @ the Staunton, VA Staples, but they are on top... and you might have to get their ladder thing to get them down, not that I would do that:bag:innocent:

THANKS OP!!! I called on Monday and was told that the store had 6 of the crayons. When I went there, the workers looked for 45 minutes and could not find them. I asked them to call me when they found them, but I received no phone call. I called again this afternoon and asked again about the markers and crayons and was told that they had 6 of each. I asked them to pull them and hold them for me (so I would not have to wait around for another 45 minutes) and I would be up there shortly. When I got there, they had only pulled 1 of each. I asked if they had the rest of them and the man helping me went back to check. He brought up the boxes and they rang up as clearance! I also used the 20% off coupon and bought the batteries so I could get that back on my Staples reward card (that I signed up for)! I was able to get the 6 crayons, 6 markers and a 20pk of AA batteries for $47!!

The first time I went to look I did not bring the item numbers and was searching the top shelves for Crayola boxes. I didn't realize that I should have been looking for the item number on the boxes. That made it much easier to find. There was no Crayola logo on the boxes, and the "150 count........." was written in very small print.

I found them today at my Staples (Sterling, VA) Luckily I had read these posts as they were on top of the shelving in unopened shipping boxes (one box/6 of Crayons and one box/6 markers). I asked them to get them down for me and one guy knew about them and the other had no clue. I got 2 of each (2 kids, no fighting). The one who knew about them said they had never been included in their display guide (can't remember the real term) for how to merchandise them so they were never put out and went to clearance unopened. I am not sure about the storage thing, but I'd think they'd last awhile. FWIW I bought some a couple of years ago, and most of the markers in the tower were dried out when we opened it. I called Crayola and mentioned it, and they replaced them, sent an additional tower and a coupon for a free Crayola product. I have no fear in purchasing their products, they have great customer service.

I can't say the same about Staples, it was like pulling teeth and I asked for help at customer service, she seemed really put out just to call someone to help in that area, and all she had to do was to pic up the phone and ask for help. She even rolled her eyes when I wouldn't go looking again at her suggestion for ones that I could reach. I already had and they weren't there. She just wanted me to go away. I have six of each and I won't be going into Staples for anything else anytime soon.

We took our crayon tower (well, one of the 6, lol) to the beach with us this weekend. It worked really well for all 5 of us to be coloring together until DS2 took off. Everyone could see and pick a shade they wanted, and there were plenty of choices, so there were no fights about the glittery light purple. Can't believe it but I bought four marker sets today. I went in to staples last week and was told they didn't have any. For the heck of it I called today and the salesman said there were 12 markers and 6 crayons left! I went in and they could only find six markers. The guy said he's in the process of cleaning out the back to school stuff and maybe he'll find the rest later. Sounds very disorganized but I'm happy with the markers. If I were you, I would take the posted Staples SKU numbers
for the crayon tower and the marker tower to the Staples store.

Have them look up the numbers and check the inventory.
They can see all the stores in their region.

You should be able to see which stores in your area have stock.

Supposedly, I was told that even though this is a clearance item,
the computer is still showing it as an "Open" item. This means
that they are still receiving shipments of them as stock. So just
because your store has no stock, doesn't mean that they won't be
getting more in.

Went back to get more from my local Staples and found another 2 cases of the crayons and markers high up. The manager got them down and was surprised by them. He first quoted me $1.50 for the marker sets (wrong sku entered) but saw that they were $3.60. He then offered all 6 of the marker sets for $1.50 each so that he could get rid of them! So, got 6 crayon sets for $2.90 each and 6 marker sets for $1.50 each. Yay!!!

Thank you for posting these numbers! My DH had checked at our store before and given the salesperson the numbers from the receipt of one of the posters at the beginning of this thread. The SP said they didn't have any of the products in the store. Tonight I went and looked high on the shelf in the art supplies aisle, and low and behold, there were boxes with these numbers Twoboos had posted. The outside of the boxes was actually marked with a Sharpie "New Crayola." And I think the last two digits on the crayon box were 39 versus 29. I only got two markers and two crayons, but I wonder if I should have gotten more for party favors or gifts. May have to go back. Thank you, OP! What a fun deal. :bighand:

Since my Stop & Shop grocery store has a "Staples" office supply aisle, it dawned on me to scan the crayon tower. However, it was $11.24....oh well worth a try!

Thanks for posting the deal. I saw this thread when it was first posted but didn't get to a Staples until yesterday. The aisle was in the open part of the store with no shelf over it, and I didn't see any towers on the crayons aisle, so I asked an employee if he knew where they were. He showed me the end of the aisle, and there was one crayon tower and one marker tower. So I got them both for my boys. There was no price in front of it nor any clearance, so I would have never known it was on clearance if it weren't for this thread. So thanks again!

I went to 2 Staples this past week. One, I asked someone, and they said they thought their store had never had any. The second one, I looked more by myself, and finally noticed 1 case of each way up high. The store was closing, but someone was willing to get them down for me. Got 3 of each, and put them away... 1 of each might come out at Easter, and will probably give our nanny 1 of each for her niece then, too.

DH was actually impressed when I brought them home!

I finally made it to Staples today and found the crayons and markers! Thanks OP - truly a great deal on something we will actually use. They were still in boxes up high, but the employee looked up the number and then went and found the boxes. He said he had never seen them out before. I bought two of each so there are four more of each left. This was at the Fairfax Staples on Route 50 and Blake/Pickett - I think that's 237.

Thank you, thank you for this post!!! DH was out of town & I was anticipating lots of snow. Went to Staples, armed with SKU numbers & they had 12 sets of each. The really nice CS rep climbed up & got a case of the crayons & markers down for me- I bought a case of each. My kids *love* them.

The Charlottesville, VA store in the Whole Foods shopping center has the crayon and marker towers. They are in boxes on top of the educational items aisle. I bought two of each and there were a few more of each left. The cashier who rang me up was surprised and said she might buy some for her church nursery.

I think it depends on the child the gift is for and the gender. Stereotypically, girls tend to be into "crafty" things longer than boys. I also think it depends on if you are giving it by itself or with something. If you pair a set of markers with an age appropriate activity book, I think you could get away with it for longer than you could the crayons and a plain old coloring book.

My case was all white clay. I had them scan a package of multicolor in foil bags and those were around $11.00 each.

Some Staples employee stole my crayons! Grrr...

Normally I wouldn't have called ahead, but DH is on his way to the airport and was going to stop and pick some up and I knew he would be a little annyoed if they didn't have them in stock.

They said they had 6 of each and could hold as many as I wanted. DH got there and they handed him 2 crayons and 3 markers (I asked for 5 crayons and 2 markers). He asked where the rest were and they said there were no more, but DH could see a partial box of them under the counter. He asked for the empty box and they said it was already in the dumpster. He said "No, it's right there, and oh, look - there are more crayons in it!" The manager called someone on the radio and yelled at them, then gave DH 2 more crayons. I guess the manager let the employee keep 1 set, lol. I love DH's persistence in pursuing this bargain!

So unless the store is really out of your way, think twice before you call!

I am shocked that this deal is still going on, also! I just got a bunch of crayons and markers today, many weeks after the deal was first posted. Knowing the skus made all the difference for me. I called ahead, and the employees just held them at customer service. I was really hoping to track down the model magic, because my daughter's teacher had just asked for some, but all I could find was the air-dry clay. Still, the stuff was just $0.50 each, so I couldn't complain about that deal!

Oh darn I forgot about the model magic....I hit the Staples near me today and they had 2 boxes of the crayon towers up high on the shelf. I called a guy over to get one down and he said "oh, I need to get one of these too!". I bought 4... one for a gift, one for home, one for grandma's and one extra (still deciding what to do with it). I didn't see any markers... I should call over there with the sku and see if they show any in stock. I was happy to get the crayons anyways ... the girl at the check out said "oh I think these are like $5"... then they rang up at $2.90! YAY for the deal still being alive!!!! :)

Called my Staples today (after I bought 6 crayons and 6 markers last time and was told that that was all they had) just to see if they had any of the modeling magic. They told me they had 6. I also asked about more markers and crayons. They had 6 more markers, but no crayons. I bought the 6 modeling magic's and the 6 markers! My DH said nothing since my DD was invited to a spur-of-the-moment birthday party last week and I just pulled out one of the markers and crayons to give as a gift! He was rather impressed that I had something to give on such short notice!

I'm thinking of sending one of the modeling magic's with my DS to Cub Scouts this week!

The dry erase crayons basically work on a dry erase board and wipe off (the package comes with an eraser mit). They take a bit of scrubbing, but I like them better than the danger of dry erase markers in the house! The full price was $3.99 or $4.99, I think.

They were on the pegs with the smaller Crayola items, the # on my receipt is 071662098520, but I can't seem to match up the same number with the # given in post #1 for the crayon/marker tower.

If someone can tell me where to find the number I'm happy to post it.

I have gotten 4 cases so far on two separate trips to the same Staples and went back a third time today to find two more cases of crayons and markers for $2.50 each. Check back at your Staples because mine seems to be restocking each week.

So, I haven't kept up with this thread. I gave up at the beginning of the thread when I checked my staples and they had nothing. Just got back from staples buying other stuff and guess what? Yup, they FINALLY pulled down the crayon and marker towers! The cashier was like, "I JUST pulled that down to stick on clearance!" So, I was lucky with the timing. I got 3 of each! 4 for our own family, 2 for the gift closet. :) Left six more for someone else. I am amazed at how long this thread has gotten, all over crayons and markers!
