I've narrowed down to these two options because I really want both a bassinet option and the infant car seat adapter. I used both of these A LOT with DD during the first 6 months of her life - in our Bumbleride Flyer (which I also loved).

I looked at a few others that were nice (City Mini and Valco something) but neither had bassinet options.

The Bumbleride appeals to me because I already have the bassinet and accessories. I'm familiar with how it works. The wheels seem like they'd do great off-roading and we'll be at a lot of soccer games for DS. BUT...it is SO much heavier and bigger when folded than the BJCS. Plus it's a two-step fold.

The BJCS is appealing because of all the different configurations...the girls are only going to be 16 months apart but I still worry about them getting squished or not having as much room in a tandem than in a side by side. DD #1 is average height/weight. I've read comments about poor steering on this model...but it seemed nice to me in the store. It's much smaller when folded, which is great because I have limited cargo space due to a 3rd row in my SUV.

I also like that the BJCS can function as a single stroller if I only have one DD with me at times...might put the older one in preschool a few mornings a week.

Any strong opinions on either of these strollers? We live a pretty suburban lifestyle - in and out of the car a lot at the mall, big brother's school, festivals, soccer games, etc.

I have not attempted to lift a bjcs but I have lifted my indie twin. I would not want to use it for in and out of the car. I use it for neighborhood walks.

Some on this board have raved about the britax b-ready saying it has a superior push to the bjcs.

Also there are other side by side strollers that have bassinet and car seat options. The MB duo for starters. If you don't need the stroller immediately I might wait for the duet to come out. It's reported to only be 25" wide and should take a car seat or bassinet.

I have a BJCS for my girls who are 2.5y apart (currently 1yo and 3.5yo). I don't have any problem with the steering and I lift it in and out of my Honda Ody trunk (it lives in the trunk). I love that it functions as a single because I find that I am using it more often as a single than a double but do like having the option if DD1 wants to ride (particularly at places like the zoo where there's a lot of walking). I take it to the mall all the time and have no problems navigating the isles as a single or getting in/out of doorways. The seats look small but the leg rest adjusts down a few inches and the canopy raises up a couple of inches and the canopy is about 4in above the seat back even in the lower position. DD1 has plenty of room and enjoys riding in the seat.

Wendibird...which configuration do you typically use? Do you take either seat out to fold and store in your car, or can you easily throw it in all intact?

I put my 6 mos old twins in the BJCS and she was already kicking the front seat with her little legs...I can't imagine how they would both fit when they get a little older. This was both facing forward....very tight.
Then we put 40 lbs in it....very hard on the wrists to steer.
Of course the fold and basket are great...but the back rider's legs just had no room.

Well when DD2 was just 6mos old we'd put DD1 in front facing out and DD2 in back facing us or both DDs facing us (DD1s feet would then take up a bit of the basket space). Now that DD2 is older the like facing each other or both facing out.

I chose to take the seats off and then I place them upright behind the frame which I also stand upright in my trunk. I could easily leave 1 or both on, but since I'm always changing up the configuration or if I need 1 or 2 seats. And because of the age and size difference each girl has a designated seat with the straps and canopy adjusted differently. It is so easy to click them on and off that I don't feel it really adds any time to setting up or putting away.

With both girls in it I'm pushing 48lbs in addition to the stroller weight and I don't find it difficult. Now, it's not like pushing a single, and maybe my perspective is different because my other single is a Metrolite (so not a dream of a push), but I don't struggle and the versatility still outweighs the weight. And DH loves it too.

Here's a couple pics I took of DD1 this summer (she hasn't really grown much since then). She usually put her feet on the foot rest but lets them dangle too and says both are comfortable. You can see that she has at least 6in between her head and the top of the canopy. The last one is the fold with one seat attached.
