Piperlime has a great sale on boots but I don't know which ones are comfy. I am looking for brown. Drooling over Frye but can't afford. I have the Target in grey. TIA!

Do you want real riding boots? I would go with Ariat. They are comfortable and well made. http://www.ariat.com/
They are on sale from time to time.

If it makes you feel any better, I have the Frye Dorado riding boots and they were not comfy at first at all. I got some major blisters in the break-in period.
(They pretty much kick ass now though. ;))

I just got the Born Yvette riding boot from Garnet Hill. See http://www.garnethill.com/b-26-23248-3brn-riding-boot/shop-by-brand/born/15877. They are really nice and very comfortable from day 1.

Etienne Aigner Costa boots are the only boots I've EVER had that fit me.
The chocolate color is to die for, and I wear them everywhere commuting via metro (lots of walking and standing) and find them to be comfy.

Frye Veronica Slouch. Seriously, most badass boots ever. I've had them three years and they still look great. I want a few more pair in different colors. (not gonna happen, I got the ones I have 40% off)

Real riding boots? Ariat, followed by Frye.

Boots that look like riding boots? Pick something comfortable! Not worth the blisters Ariat and Frye cause during break-in periods.... ;)

Since you mentioned in your OP that you don't want to spend as much as Frye boots, I'll recommend checking out DSW. I bought a pair of Nicole brand brown leather riding boots there last year that I LOVE. They were $100 and they don't have that same pair anymore, but a quick glance shows that they have quite a few pairs of similar styles and free shipping right now. You could try out a few pairs and then return to the store.

I have those:

in brown. They're beautiful, very comfortable (I have feet with issues and usually have to break boots in), wore them half a day straight out of the box without issues. They're narrow in shaft though, and I don't wear them out in nasty weather, they're the perfect cognac brown!
