If I knew how to make a poll, this would be a perfect poll question!

Well, when ds was that age the recommendation was to wait until 2 years old so I did. Now, dd's ped said to wait until 1 for all nuts. Since she is 9 months we haven't started yet.

Someone posted this question a month or two ago, and the answers were all over the map...anywhere from around 1 y/o to 3 y/o or older, depending on pediatrician advice, parent comfortability, other allergies, etc. Our pediatrician was fine with DD trying pb any time after 1 y/o...I want to say she was closer to 1.5 y/o until we actually bothered, for no real reason. She wasn't a huge fan. Now, she likes it, but doesn't love it.

10 months or so with ds2. I personally feel that withholding it is one of the reasons for the continued rise of allergies and with no history of allergies I opted to go for it sooner rather than later.

My older DS was just shy of 2 and a friend of ours said "hey, Has he had Peanut Butter yet?" After she had already handed him a piece of celery with Peanut butter in it and he was licking away! He didn't have a reaction thankfully.

My DS2 had peanut butter sometime between 1 and 2 yrs... I think my older DS gave him a nibble of his Peanut butter sandwich. Since there were no issues with DS1 and no nut allergies in either of our families we were ok with it.

I wanted to wait until 2 and then found out her daycare gave her some shortly after age 1, maybe 14 months? I was furious. Then I asked about strawberries. Good thing shellfish is not in their budget.

I started giving her VERY SMALL AMOUNTS and not more than once or twice a month then once a week. She still only gets it a couple of times a weel max and never more than a small sandwhich at most. Most of what I read said to taper it in, not to just "start" them and start feeding full servings daily.

we did just shortly after a year. I am another who isn't convinced that delaying means a lesser chance of allergy.

DS is 14 months and we haven't yet. But not because I'm worried about allergies. I'm worried about choking.

We are still witholding PB and all nuts from DS on recommendation from his pedi, though I guess we will find out if he has an allergy when his allergy testing comes back. Our Pedi's rule is after 3 and with all the health issues we have had with DS and random allergies we are comfortable holding off. Besides, DS loves his sunbutter.

I waited until 2yrs with DS. With DD she had it first at her first bday party. I believe the rec is 12mos.

Thankfully we don't have a history of PB allergies on either side. We gave DD1 PB at 1 and DD2 at about 10 months. I only use a thin layer though because of potential chocking risk and to teach positive eating habits.

21 months with DD. She reacted immediately and is allergic to peanuts.

There are no food allergies in either side of our families but, as wewere soon told, any type of allergy (seasonal, etc.) predisposes you to any other allergy.

I didn't think of the chocking risks! DS1 we waited until he was 3 (he won't eat any nut butters now). DS2 the ped told us to give it to him around 11 months (low weight gain), but he won't eat it either.

With DS1, we waited until he was over 2 because that was the recommendation at the time. With DS2, his older brother fed him a peanut butter cracker when he was ~9 months, but thankfully he didn't have a reaction. I started giving it to him more regularly at around 15 months.

With no food allergies or any other significant allergies on either side, we started sometime after 1 with both boys.

I just think it's prudent before starting any food to know the signs of an allergy.

:yeahthat: Pretty much exactly, except that my oldest is a DD, and fed her brother part of her PBJ sandwich, as well as chocolate-peanut butter no bake cookies around 9-10 months.

I gave it to DD at 9 months, no family history of allergies. I needed some healthy protein to give her for weight gain and I also think not giving it to them increases allergies.

:yeahthat: I think we started with DD1 about 10 to 12 months. I don't remember exactly. We will do the same for DD2.

We waited 2 years. She doesn't really eat meat, so our pedi told us to try PB for the protein. (Unfortunately, she is allergic.)

Both DC started at around 1 yo. DS did just fine.

For DD, I ignored the warning from the pedi not to give her peanuts because she had eczema. :bag She broke out in hives after her second bite of peanut butter and her skin that came into contact with it got really itchy. We saw an allergist soon after and found out that she was allergic to peanuts and eggs.

We waited until 3 for DS (on pediatrician's advice; DH's brother has a severe peanut allergy) and gave it to him for the first time at the doctor's office. I figured they would be prepared to handle an allergic reaction. Fortunately, there wasn't one. DD had PB at ~23 months (peanut M&M on a cupcake at a bday party). She is not allergic either (luckily).

About 2 weeks ago. He's had peanut butter and nutella now, but I think he got some pecans mixed in with his sweet potatoes at Christmas too.

I found out that DC had it at daycare for there snack at about 12 mos. I wasn't too upset as we don't have a hx of allergies. They then had a notification that there snacks do have peanut butter in the toddler room and and up and you need to tell them if you don't want your kid to have it yet. They do post all allergies and have a allergy free table.
