Did anyone else hear this NPR story? I am sure all of us talk to our babies a lot, but I thought this really confirms the importance of talking early and often to our little ones. And it is encouraging to think about the potential of improving the lives of underprivileged kids through something as simple as talking to them early on - challenging though this might be.

I had read about this study before...fascinating! Thanks for posting this! It's amazing to think that such a simple intervention, when coupled with other types of enrichment, may have impact.

IMO, studies like these should continue - and be well funded - in hopes that the US will catch up with the rest of world and see the importance of maternity/paternity leave for development of infants.
