View Full Version : PLAYMOBIL Wedding sets are being DISCONTINUED!!!

Corie

I called Playmobil. All the Playmobil wedding sets are
being discontinued.
On the Playmobil website, they have 5 out of the 7 sets available
and they are available at 25% off plus free shipping if you spend
at least $20.

The wedding sets are:

4296 Church (it looks like a little wedding chapel)
4297 Wedding Pavilion with Jewel Case
4298 Bridal Couple with Wedding Cake
4299 Photographer with Flower Girl and Ringbearer
4307 Wedding Car with Bridal Couple
4308 Wedding Guests in a Party Tent
4309 Piano Player

Looks like I'll be buying all of the wedding sets!!! This is one
of my favorites series from Playmobil. Too bad my daughter's
birthday is at the end of November. Maybe I can give it to her
for Easter.

I found a few of these at the clearance sale last year at Barnes and Noble.

I bought the Bridal couple, tent, and car set all at 75% off. Might be worth checking again this year.

Thanks for the heads-up! Santa brought the wedding chapel and the getaway car to our house and they were such a huge hit - way more exciting than the American Girl dolls they have been asking for all year!

Guess I'll be ordering the reception tent, etc. to round out the collection.

THANK YOU CORIE-- i'm going to order that wedding chapel RIGHT NOW.
i'm the one with the 3 year old obsessed with CHURCH.

i might forgo some of the other wedding set... but it's going to be really hard :(

ann- was the b&n sale online or b&m-- mine has very little playmobil, unfortunately, and i've never seen this there.

good score though!

okay-- i resisted the other things (particularly the wedding tent... i can't get over the champagne!!!), but i did order the church. i had a little freak out because at first the website was NOT letting me check out and i was getting a weird "out of stock" message at the top (even though i could keep adding to my cart)--

but, CHURCH ORDERED :) i can't wait. too cute :) i love that they toss in a free "figure game" when you spend more than 40 dollars on the website too. i think this was a good "deal"

Wow! I'm impressed that you resisted!!!

I can get sucked into almost *anything* as soon as I hear
the words "discontinued". I go into a panic. What happens
if this becomes my daughter's favorite toy and I don't have
all the pieces for her? Then I go into a panic again.

And then I buy ALL the Wedding sets.

www.ridgeroadstation.com has a few sets and they are a little cheaper with free shipping over $40. I think it includes one set that playmobil doesn't have in stock too :)

oh dearydear. :( i think i might be in for a little more at ridgeroadtoys...we'll see.

yes corie--- it's scarey when they "discontinue" things...i've fallen for this over at american girl's website. i've bought 2 dolls out of FEAR (felicity & kirsten) and lots of "stuff."

a houseFULL of stuff and the realization that my child is ONLY 3 has lately been helping. but...ack.

In looking at the Ridge Road Station website, their prices
are inflated so you really aren't getting a true 40% off.

I want to buy the Playmobil Wedding Pavilion with Jewel Case.
Here is what I found when I compared prices-

Playmobil's price is $64.99
Minus 25% off $16.25
My total price is $48.74

Shipping is free if you spend at least $20.
You get a free Playmobil game if you spend at least $40.
(Playmobil 7969 Ghost Pirate Game)
http://www.amazon.com/Playmobil-7969-Ghost-Pirate-Game/dp/B002W6JRVI

Ridge Road Station's price is $75.00
Minus 40% off $30.00
Total price is $45.00

Shipping is free if you spend at least $40.
No free gift.

so we don't have any Playmobil and I have no experience with them. My DD LOVES anything fairies, princess, mermaids, or just really girlie. Do you all recommend Playmobil for a girl like her? I can see myself going really overboard!

Your daughter sounds like my daughter!!! My daughter is 9 years old
and she LOVES her Playmobil. She has tons of different sets
and she mixes and matches her sets.
My daughter is very into pretend play.

And this is my problem!

We have lots of fairy sets, mermaid sets, princess sets, and the entire
school and all the school sets.

Now, we'll have the wedding chapel and all the coordinating wedding
sets! :)

Thanks OP! We are new fans of playmobile after getting the camper recently and it being a huge hit.

From the wedding set I got the car, piano player, and reception tent. Now I'm wondering if I should've gotten the pavillion and church, but those may be too much/redundant/too costly, what do you think? I'm also trying to minimize storage, can easily put little pieces in a shoe box vs. the structures.

i'm contemplating the car (it's yellow...that KILLS me), the reception tent, the kids/photographer and the piano player.

what really takes it too far is the "extra" things i want at ridge road station-- the pediatricians office, ALL the fairy stuff (that appears to be something else i missed the boat on? i remember so much more...), a few odds and ends (the porch furniture, etc).

Seitvonzu

yeah-- you definitely need the pavillion...i'm coming to see it this way ;) it also seems like a fabulous place for our growing collection of dressup polly-pocketesque princesses to "twirl"....

oh cripes!

everything else "wedding" between the two sites would be right about a hundred (we already did the church)... except then would i need to find that elusive wedding cake? where did you find it corie?

why can't i tell myself "skip the gnomes, fairies, doctor's office and go WEDDING!" it seems like once i'm in... ack!

I'm jealous!!! I would love to have the wedding, fairy, princess and mermaid sets but they are way too girly for me to even try to convince the boys that they want them. I especially love the horse and carriage set, all the unicorns and all the princess stuff.

Can I come play at someone's house?

My daughter got tired of waiting for her brother to build the church.

So she built it this afternoon while my son and I were out shoveling
the snow from our driveway. She also put together the piano
player, the yellow wedding car and the wedding tent.

Now we just need to do the wedding pavilion. I will take a picture
when we are done.

I need a snack first. Over an hour of shoveling snow and
I am starving!!!

Seitvonzu

corie-- you opened ALL the wedding stuff? can i be your daughter?

actually, reading that reminded me of how my mom gave me a bunch of doll clothes (beautiful, collector doll clothes...very pricey) one day "just because" when i got home from school. she said it was for my "great report card" -- but she never had done that before (reward us for our grades, which were always good). it was more because she was SO excited about the clothes and wanted to overwhelm me and give it to me all at once! it was so fun :):):) i think she was more excited than i was...and i was pretty excited. we sat on my bed and oohhed and ahhed and the doll was redressed a billion times ---

i needed to have that memory RIGHT THIS SECOND because i'm in a little bit of a snit with aforementioned mommy. thank you - i look forward to the picture!

A lot of the sets come with a bride and groom.

Set 4298 is the bride & groom with a wedding cake.
Set 4307 is the wedding car with the bride & groom.
Set 4297 is the wedding pavillon. Also comes with a bride & groom.
Set 4296 is the church/wedding chapel. Also comes with a bride & groom. (This wedding couple from this set is my favorite because she
has a big full white dress.)

You are killing me with all these pics and this thread. I really want the church. But, I only have a 4 year old boy. I though it would be cool to make his Playmobil school into a Catholic school and put the church right up next to the school. I could just put away the wedding couple in case this next baby is a girl. That justifies the purchase right?

DS goes to Catholic School. So that would make perfect sense right that his school should be a Catholic school. Right?:wink2:

I'm tempted to get the church and the wedding getaway car only. I have the reception tent and I'm trying to convince myself that the reception pavillion isn't necessary if you have the tent :)

I could maybe even forgo the car.

I'd look for the smaller pieces at the local toys stores here.....

I am having to go pretty par thru the checkout process on Playmobil and still not seeing free shipping show up...guess I have to trust that it will.

The tent is fun. I found it last year at Barnes and Noble for $6...or something like that. DD likes to set up the party food etc. We also have a very old (from niece) set that seems to be a wedding banquet type thing....big table, plates, candelabras etc.

I should just pull the trigger and buy the church before it is gone!

I can't believe I just ordered all of it! DD is only 20 months, but after having two boys I'm so excited to buy "girly" toys. I hope she loves it when she gets older.

Now to find the cake locally :)

Which 2 songs? ;)

I didn't realize he was still available, I guess I searched on "Wedding" and not all the sets came up!

Ok I caved finally. I got the Pavilion and photographer (RR Station), the tent (had to have that caterer and food), piano player and the bride and groom (7497-they look like the ones from the church and we don't have Church weddings either so I'm sticking with the Pavilion only...) Of course I threw in the fairy Egg and a few little fairy pieces just to have around... Thanks for the photos, they put me over the edge. I must log off and never check here again...

i say "go for it" with the pavillion... is your daughter into princesses at all? i thought it would be great for princess balls as well as weddings. we have a ton of those princess polly-pocket knockoffs, and they need somewhere to "twirl"- right?

that's what i told myself anyhow. i'm hoping the packages come next week when DH is out of town. he was home when the church came and said "now we have the last toy we ever need, yes?"

urmhrm. folded on these, i did :) and i'm probably going to seek out the bride/groom cake which is the only one we didn't order from playmobil/ridgeroad.....we'll see :)

Do you think they are going to come out with new wedding sets to replace these? I read on another site that the single bride and groom another poster bought is a new Jan. 2011 addition to the playmobil range and playmobil says it is part of their direct service range that is designed to go with other sets. It seems strange that they would discontinue all the wedding stuff and then bring out a direct service bride and groom...

But I'm new to playmobil so maybe that makes sense to everyone else! :)

Here is what I know-

I emailed Playmobil and called Playmobil. I was told in both
email and on the phone that the wedding sets were being discontinued.

The wedding sets are no longer pictured in the Playmobil catalog.
I received the 2011 catalog in with my orders and the wedding sets
are not in there.

Awesome deals!! What else did you buy? :)

I bought two wedding pavillions - one for my daughter and one for her best friend, whose 4th bday was yesterday. Lucky girl, getting a gift that's regularly $60+! I also got two big Unicorn castles (one for my daughter's bday in March, and another to save for a gift), a bunch of powerboats (bath toys seem to be a good gift, no matter what age), another boat with an alligator, some random things like a picnic table and an orca... and that may be it. It's a small store and I circled it about 100x not wanting to kick myself for leaving anything behind, but truthfully, my son is 6 and he burnt himself out on playmobil pirates and knights about a year ago. Now he's more interested in Legos. My daughter got a whole farm set, barn, and tons of animals last year, and it's still more than enough to keep her happy, so there seemed no sense in overdoing it. I would've gotten her the grand mansion if they had it, but none were left.

As of yesterday (and this may not be the case now), I recall them having tons of pirate stuff, police/fireman stuff, some of the wedding sets, the big school, the big veterinary clinic, the pyramid set, a bunch of the animal/farm stuff, some circus stuff, random things like an ice cream parlor and a skatepark, and lots of other things. Plus most of the beginner playmobil stuff for ages 1-2 years. It must've just gone down to 65% because I was surprised how much was still left at that price. I'm gonna miss that store so much - it was my favorite part of that mall, and one of my black friday staples when I always got things for 35% off! =-(

Prices were good and going in through that link above gave me free shipping on $50 instead of $75 and coupon code GSHOPPlay worked a few minutes ago for 10% off.

Yes, the fairy stuff is the advent calendar! She has other Playmobil
fairies that I've picked up too. The little organ doesn't come with it.
The organ was part of another Playmobil advent calendar from a few
years ago. I forget the name of it. I'll try to remember.

She also has all the Playmobil mermaid sets. Those are set up on
the little pink Playmobil storage suitcase. You can see the big white
oyster shells in the pile of Playmobil stuff beside her.

i knew it was to good to be true that we might have that organ already ;) we'll just get the one coming out in august (which isn't as cute, but will have to do since i'm not spending 126 dollars to get that advent calender!)

i've seen "christmas in the park" before-- totally adorable. it reminds me of the stuff coming out this year which i'm totally pumped about :)

we don't have any mermaids...they are cute and would go well with lu's current little mermaid obsession...it never ends does it?

we are totally snowed in today. daddy is out of town and this southern girl (texas) doesn't do driving in weather or, shoveling, for that matter. so instead of our art museum/fancy restaurant day (this snow was supposed to be rain until 5pm?), we're in our pjs watching extra pbs and i'll probably FINALLY get out the take along house & the firetruck i have stashed. did i mention that i bought that take along house back when i didn't even have a kid? it was 12.48 at target!!!! and the firetruck was 5ish-- again, target. oh i love target :)

and as a result-- it's sitting in my basement, ready for this snow day :) sometimes my hoarding works to my advantage :)

(the firetruck was after my child saw it and declared she liked it... so not EVERYTHING is from my crazy carefree days of "collecting")

My daughter loves mermaids too! Her bathroom theme is mermaids.
I have bought several pieces of art on Etsy that feature mermaids. So cute!!

And, I did not realize that you are a Texas girl! I lived in Texas for 18 years. My husband is a native Texan. Are you still there?

I bought the firetruck for $5 too at Target! My son has just as much
Playmobil as my daughter. They were sharing the reading nook but he
kept shooting his pirate cannons at her and the cannon balls were crashing through all her stuff. I would hear him laughing hysterically
upstairs and she would come stomping down in a huge huff!

we aren't in texas now, hence the snow. we're in suburban maryland (hubby works for the government). we are trying very hard to get "home" (though DH is a connectician, actually)

I've been following this thread (I'm a huge Playmobil fan, since my childhood in the 80's when we had the Cowboys & Indians set), and I finally bought everything for my 10-month-old daughter. :D

I got the Wedding Car, Photographer, and Wedding Cake sets from Humphrey's at 50% off. Shipping was $10, but the car was only $17 and the other sets $6.25, so I still came out ahead. I ordered the Church, Pavillion, Wedding Guests, and Piano Player from Playmobil.com, because those were the best prices I could find anywhere (and I looked around for 3 days).

There is someone on ebay who's auctioning some of the wedding stuff, and the last church went for $36 + $10 shipping, but what usually happens to me is that I stalk the auction, get outbid by $1 in the last seconds, then Playmobil.com would be sold out and I'd be upset. ;)

For those of you who have lots of play houses, etc. How do you store or display the toys? On a table or shelf? Dont you run out of room? We dont have a play room, just her nursery so Im wondering how to handle these pieces because I certainly plan to get more LOL

My local store had quite a few of the wedding cake sets for $10.99. Let me know if you can't find one!

How big is the base of the church would you say? I wonder if we can assemble it and just put it on DDs shelf (she is way too young) or just keep it in the box.

It measures approx. 17 inches deep. I measured from the front
of the church to the back of the church.

It measures approx. 13 inches width. I measured from the left
side to the right side.

It measure approx. 22 inches tall. I measured from the base
to the tippy-top of the church tower.

I know some people haven't been happy with their Ridge Road Station orders, but I wanted to post that they lowered their prices on playmobil again. Most of the wedding stuff is gone, but the church is $48 with free shipping.

The church is gone (phew since I ordered last week from Playmobil) but there are some other good deals. I got the Ghost Pirate Ship (if they have it) My only disappointment was they didn't (and were'nt going to) notify me that something wasn't ever going to ship, but knowing that I'm fine ordering items that are not discontinued and I'm counting on them.

So who ordered the Magic Castle? I saw it on RRS last night but now it's gone.

I did order the Church last night while it showed it was still in stock but we'll see if it actually ships.

The church was there when I wrote my original post. So I hope someone here snagged it!

It looks like Toysrus is also having a 25% off sale on Playmobil today and they also have some of the wedding sets available.

There still seems to be a lot of stock left on Ridge Road. Should I wait until the summer (they are closing in July)--there's nothing specific I "have" to have. I assume it will go lower, right?

I've only started looking at RRS about a month ago. At that time they had 16 pages of Playmobil merchandise. Now they only have 10 pages. At this rate there might not be much left come summer.

I ordered the church a few hours before you posted. Crossing my fingers it ships!

Thanks for the heads up on TRUS.

I didn't see any Playmobil wedding stuff at our Toys R Us. Our
TRU is fairly lacking in Playmobil.

If you search under Playmobil Wedding on the TRU website it all comes up. I think they have the bride and groom with cake, car, reception tent, and some others in stock. They'll ship free with Shoprunner too if you haven't used that free trial yet.

For the person who was wondering if they should wait until summer for RRS, I ordered what I wanted last night since some of what i was planning to get is already OOS. Also, it sounds like sometimes there are things still on the website that they don't have in inventory, so they might even have less right now that it at first appears.

Oh sorry! I meant in the actual store.

I don't need any more wedding pieces though! We have them all!! :)

Yeah, I was just throwing that information out there in case anyone else was looking. :) They usually don't come up if you search for the individual set names.

Our TRU has a really large playmobil section and they don't have any wedding sets either. I think they were never carried in store, just online??

I agree. They used to have a very large Playmobil inventory, so 10 pages is not a lot. I really don't think there's going to be much stuff left by summer.

Not to bump up an old thread but I wanted to thank/curse Corie and Seitvonzu for convincing us to get the wedding sets....we gave DD the Church/car for her birthday (2 days before the Royal Wedding) and she loved it.

I ordered the Pavillion, Photographer w/ flower girl/ring bearer, piano player, bride and groom w/ cake AND they Royal Carriage. I have no idea when we will give it to DD. Maybe for Memorial Day :hysterical:

Corie, I e-mailed King Arthur's Toys and they gave me the 20% off - thanks!

Go to their website and sign up for the Kings Klub in a few days they will e-mail you a 20% off welcome code. On playmobil they give you 20% of the retail...they already give you 10% off so the 20% off coupon gives you the difference, NOT 20% off their discounted price.
