I just figured this out & I'm so pleased! Sharing in case anyone else, like me, thought it couldn't be done. It's actually really easy and completely free.

I used this for the Overdrive system (used by many libraries). The file format was ePub.

You need:
- a home computer, an iPad & a library account.
- Dropbox: a free, safe, very popular bit of software. Install on your computer and get the iPad app.
- Bluefire Reader: a free eReader app for the iPad.

1. Download the eBook file from your library to your home computer. It is a very small file.
2. Drag to the file to your computer's Dropbox account.
3. Open Dropbox on your iPad.
4. In Dropbox, select "Open in Bluefire Reader"
5. Read your book! It downloads once, then lives on the Bluefire reader until your loan expires.

Hope that helps someone!
