DS is turning 6 and he is having a Star Wars themed party at the bowling alley. We will be having 15 -20 kids, mostly boys. I would like to give each child one nicer item instead of the favor bag. I want it to be something that they will enjoy and/or use. It doesn't have to relate to the theme but it would be great if it did. Does anyone have any ideas?

I was at a party a few weeks ago and the favor was a gift card to the local movie theatre taped to a box of candy. I thought that was nice, since its so cold outside.

Is there anything in particuliar the age group is into? Do you have a favorite candy shop/ice cream shop in town? What about an open gym/bounce house/arcade? You could do a gift card there.

We have given Staw Wars buildables. It is like a pack of trading cards but each pack contains plastic punch out mini Star Wars ships to build (sorry if not explaining it well). Target usually has them in the trading card section.

Not sure about the age range, but how about giving each boy a Star Wars lego box. They can take it home and make it.

What about a book? BHFO Books has a bunch, including this one for $1.25:

Some of the Amazon books are decent prices. This one is $4 and is part of the buy 3, get 1 free promotion:

This one is a bargain book for $5.41:

We received inflatable light sabers at a party, and they were a big hit.

Thanks for the suggestions. The books are a great idea. I wish I would have ordered more of the Star Wars pop-up books when they were $5 on Amazon.

I saw that they have Star Wars thermos sipper cups at Target but they are $10. If I could find them for a few bucks less that might be a good option.

Do you live near a Lego store? They had magnet sets (3 pack) for $5 and SW key chains for $1.48. I think the keychains are on-line too http://shop.lego.com/SalesAndDeals/

Thanks for the ideas. I might check out the magnet set. We have a store about 40 minutes away. I thought the key chains were cute but DH wanted to know what a 6 year old would use a key chain for.

Lots of kids use them to decorate and personalize back packs, lunch boxes, etc.

DD has about 8 keychains on her backpack....she jingles as she walks as some are metal. :)

The magnet set is a clearance item, so I would def. recommend calling the store and seeing if they have them in-stock and maybe they will hold them for you. Regular price is $15.

I never thought of that. Maybe I will get the key-chains after all.

You probably already have your party favors, but if you're still looking I saw this today on Amazon:

I am so following this thread. DS wants a Star Wars themed party next year.

I love the keychains - am I a nerd for wanting the Kit Fisto one for myself? :D

And the last book that was posted - the Scanimation one from Amazon, that's a really great deal.... might pick it up to use for Easter baskets!

We have Star Wars cookie cutters from Williams Sonoma. I didn't even think of cookies.. great idea.

Perhaps if I'm in the baking mood for his birthday I can bake a bunch of them and use them in treat bags.

You did a great job with the favors, OP

I also ordered that Scanimation SW book from Amazon... for $5 that is a fantastic deal. My DS is going to flip his lid when he sees it, it's very cool.
